About Ketchup to Cancer Virtual 3.11mi

I hate ketchup. But I hate cancer more.

After losing his wife, Amanda, to stage IV colorectal cancer in 2019, Alex Baker has made it his mission to fight back against cancer. Now, you can help him catch up to cancer with this virtual 3.11mi walk/run.

From wherever you are in the world, we hope you join us for our inaugural virtual 3.11mi race, in honor of Amanda's favorite band 311, beginning on February 5th through her birthday on March 22nd.

All proceeds raised from this virtual event will support Ketchup to Cancer's mission to catch up to cancer.

Included in your registration is a 3.11 medal and more. Details forthcoming!

About Alex
"Cancer Changed My Life. Now I want to catch up to cancer."

Alex is a 41-year-old widower with an 11-year-old son. In October 2017, his wife, Amanda, was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer. Over the next 16 months, she went through 25 rounds of chemo, 50 rounds of radiation, four different treatment centers, clinical trials and more before she ultimately passed on February 5, 2019.

The whole experience shook him to his core. As you can imagine, losing your wife of ten years and having to tell your then 4-year-old son that his mom died was a terrible moment. It caused Alex to re-evaluate a lot of things in his life. I decided it was time to make a change.

There was no reason his son should have to lose another parent because he couldn’t take care of himself. After taking his first steps into a gym and first steps out of his front door, he has logged more than 4,200 miles and run 5 marathons as a charity runner.

Since March 2023, he has already raised more than $40,000 for cancer research and supporting families who are impacted. And as he says it, "I'm just getting started."

2026 Medal

2027 medal will be revealed later in the year.
