Dear Friends,

Great news! The 25th Anniversary Run Among the Lakes is still ON!

After days of persistent rain, our dirt roads are simply not in great shape. While those charming roads are part of what makes running through Windermere so special, the conditions have made it necessary for us to make some adjustments.

Following careful evaluation and consultation with Town Administration, Public Works, and the Windermere Police Department, we've made the decision to move forward with a modified, paved 5K course. Unfortunately, the 10K will NOT be offered this year. We’re committed to making this a safe, fun, and memorable 25th anniversary celebration for everyone! The changes are the result of extraordinary weather conditions and circumstances beyond our control.

This will allow us to provide a safer and more enjoyable race experience while keeping our 25th anniversary celebration alive!

IMPORTANT: NEW RACE START TIME
All runners will now start at 7:35 AM on Saturday, October 10.

There will be NO 7:10 AM start. Our previously scheduled 10K runners and registered 5K runners will all begin at 7:35 AM.

What Does This Mean for Our 10K Runners?

We will not offer the traditional 10K distance this year. We know this is disappointing, especially for those of you who have been training and looking forward to running the 10K. But we have two options for you!

Option 1: Join Us for 5K Race!

Come on out and enjoy 5K course!

And here's the important part: Our registered 10K participants will remain in their own race division!

You'll pick up your 10K race bib at packet pickup..
Your results will be timed and ranked separately from our registered 5K runners.
You'll remain eligible for awards in the 10K division, including special medals for our top overall finishers.
You'll receive your official 10K finisher medal, along with your 25th anniversary race T-shirt and race-day swag.
Although the distance has changed, we still want to recognize and celebrate our 10K runners!

Option 2: Switch to a Virtual 10K!

If you'd prefer to complete the full 10K distance, you may switch to a virtual race. You'll still receive your race T-shirt, 10K finisher medal, and goodies, and you can complete your distance on your own schedule when our roads return to good condition. Reply to this email with your Virtual Race Request.

A Little Something for Next Year!

As a thank-you for your understanding and flexibility, every registered 10K participant will automatically receive a $20 credit toward our 2027 Run Among the Lakes!

We'll email your credit to you before registration opens in 2027.

We're Still Celebrating!
Town Hall will be open, our race-day festivities will continue, and we're looking forward to welcoming our runners, families, volunteers, and community for a wonderful morning together.

After 25 years, one thing hasn't changed — the heart of Run Among the Lakes is our incredible running community!

We hope you'll lace up your shoes, come out, and celebrate with us. It may look a little different this year, but we're going to make it a memorable one!

Let's let the sunshine in and celebrate 25 years together! ☀️💙

With appreciation,

Town of Windermere Parks and Recreation Committee
