About 2026 Outrun Hunger
Join the fight against hunger by participating in Montgomery County Food Bank's annual Outrun Hunger event, featuring a 8K & 5K Trail Run | 1K Color Dash. The event's proceeds benefit Montgomery County Food Bank's programs for children, seniors, and families facing hunger in Montgomery County. This community-wide event offers summer fun for all ages. All event long at the Party Pavilion, you'll enjoy music, food trucks, photo ops, a kids zone, and more. We encourage all participants to set up a fundraiser to make your impact go even further. Every $1 raised provides up to 4 meals. Let's make a colorful dash into summer!

About Us
Montgomery County Food Bank’s mission is to unite the community to fight hunger. In 2025, we were able to provide nearly 10 million nutritional meals through our vast network of over 90 partner agencies and more than 60 schools across all 6 school districts within Montgomery County. We work in partnership with retailers and wholesalers to provide a solution for food waste by rescuing food that would otherwise go to the landfill. As a part of our green initiatives program, we operate an onsite Produce Rescue Center that allows us to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables which emphasizes the importance of sustainability and promotes healthy food choices. MCFB's vision of a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food is possible through the support of our volunteers and our community and corporate partners.

8K and 5K race course will be taking place on nature running trails. Our 1K course will take place on paved ground around the lake at Grand Central Park.

Q: Is Outrun Hunger a run or walk?
Both! We encourage walkers and runners of all abilities to participate. You are welcome to run, walk, skip - it's up to you! For those who want to walk or with small children, we encourage you to start at the back of the starting line.
Q: Can I sign up as a team?
Yes! Outrun hunger with your colleagues, family or friends. Visit our team page for more information. Download our helpful "how to sign up" document here.
Q: Can I dress up?
Absolutely! We ENCOURAGE you to get CREATIVE! See our Pinterest page for inspiration.
Q: Where can I find race results after the race?
Results for Outrun Hunger will be posted online on our event site after the race.
Q: Do all participants receive a medal?
All participants in the 8K and 5K will receive a medal. If you are participating in the 1K Color Dash, you will not receive a participant medal.
Q: Do I receive a t-shirt with my registration?
All participants in the 8K, 5K, and 1K will be give the option for a shirt.
Q: Will there be team or fundraising awards?
In the spirit of friendly competition, awards will be given as follows:
- Top Team Fundraiser
- Top Individual Fundraiser
- Fastest Team (co-ed, male, female) - 8K and 5K
- Most Team Spirit
- Largest Team
Q: Will the run be timed?
The 8K and 5K will be chip timed. Participants wear a timing chip integrated with their bib number that starts their individual time when they cross the start line and stops it when they cross the finish line.
Q: Where do I pick up my race packet and t-shirt?

Q: Are dogs allowed at the event?
Dogs are not allowed on the 8K and 5K course. Dogs are permitted at the Party Pavilion and in the 1K Color Dash, but keep in mind dogs will be splashed with color powder. While it's non-toxic, your furry friends may not be happy about it. Please use your discretion.
Q: Can I bring my child's stroller?
Strollers are allowed for walkers & joggers only and must start at the back of the starting line. Please note that you are responsible for your child's safety in the stroller.
Q: Will there be water stations on the course?
There will be water available on the course and at the Party Pavilion.
Q: Will the race happen if there is inclement weather?
Outrun Hunger will happen rain or shine. The run could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions.
Q: What can I expect at the Party Pavilion?
This community-wide event offers summer fun for all ages. All event long at the Party Pavilion, you'll enjoy music, kid-friendly summer activities, photo ops, and more.

Q: If I cannot attend for any reason, can I expect a refund?
Entry fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable. This means once you have registered, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, and you may not give or sell your number to anyone else. Exceptions will be made if you are on active military duty and you get deployed. You can send us a copy of your orders, and we will refund your entry fee.
Q: Who will receive an award?
- For the 8K and 5K, The Top Male and Female OVERALL
- For the 8K and 5K, The Top Male and Female Masters OVERALL (40+)
- For individual Age Groups 8K and 5K, The Top Three Males & Females in each Age Group : 10 and under, 11-14 (Junior), 15-19 (High School), 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+
- There are no awards or timing for the JUST FOR FUN 1K Run. This kids race is all about having fun and participating. All will receive a race number, t-shirt and finishers medal

Packet Pickup
Individual Race Packet Pick Up
Pick up your race packet on Friday, June 12 at The Lake House at Grand Central Park! Race packets include your race t-shirt and bib. Please bring your confirmation email to pick up your race packet. You can pick up for another individual if you have their RunSignUp confirmation email.

Team/Group Race Packet Pick Up
To pick up for your entire team/group, please send your request to abass@mcfoodbank.org. Team/group packet pick up will take place on Thursday, June 11 at Montgomery County Food Bank. If this is not requested by June 9, all team members will be responsible for picking up their own race packet as an individual on June 12 or onsite on June 13.

Team Details
Invite family, friends, and co-workers to join you at Outrun Hunger! Recruit your team at home, church, school, and work. Your team can be any combination of runners, walkers, and/or kids. For more information on how to set up your team, please see the PDF link at the bottom of the page.
- Choose a Team Captain and Team Name
- Team Captain will register first and create the team (you must register online)
- Recruit your team, there is no maximum limit of participants
- Set a goal and fundraise to fight hunger and feed hope!
Corporate Team Details
