Join us for the 37th annual YMCA Run thru the Woods
A local Thanksgiving morning tradition, YMCA Run Thru the Woods has supported local non-profits with the goal of strengthening The Woodlands, Spring and Oak Ridge communities for 36 years. The event brings thousands of community members together for entertainment and run/walks designed for all ages. Over the years, more than $4 million dollars has been raised.

The Woodlands Family YMCA Annual Campaign – The YMCA Annual Campaign helps everyone, regardless of age, income or background, have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y. 3 Mile Run: Starts at 8:25 am

When should I arrive?
Try to arrive an hour before your event to park, use the restroom, and get ready to trot.
Where should I park?
Please park at The Woodlands Mall or The Pavilion Parking Garage
Remember, the early bird gets the worm and the best parking!
Where does the race start and finish?
All races start and finish in front of The Pavilion
When do I need to finish by?
All runners and walkers must finish by 9:30am, so we can open up the roads.
What does the registration include?
T-Shirt, Medal, Commemorative Bib, post race food and activities.
Are entries refundable?
No
Can I register the day of the event?
No
When does registration close?
November 25th or unit it sells out.
What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?
Bring your confirmation email for quicker service.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes. You must inform them that you are picking up their packet so they do not make a wasted trip to packet pickup.
Can I have my packet mailed out to me?
No
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
No, due to the exciting growth and record participation at last year's event, we are adjusting our event operations. To ensure a smooth, safe, and on-time start for everyone, we will no longer be offering race day packet pickup.
Is there an age limit to participate?
No, however IF your child is under the age of 3 and will be in a stroller, you do not need to register them as a participant, unless you want them to receive a shirt and medal.
Can I walk instead of run?
Absolutely! It’s a family fun event. This is a great way to enjoy Thanksgiving morning with your friends and family.
Are strollers, pets or wheelchairs allowed?
Strollers & Wheelchairs are allowed. We do ask strollers to start toward the back and be mindful not to block the course.
We love our furry family but pets are not allowed on the course.
Will there be a bag drop?
No
What items are prohibited to bring to Run Thru The Woods?
Firearms, Roller skates, Heelys, skateboards, scooters and any other items with rolling features are prohibited. Participants who bring any of these items to the race are subject to disqualification and removal from the course by safety personnel or volunteers. Headphones are discouraged for the safety of all participants in the race.
What happens if it rains or there is bad weather?
We will race rain or shine! If lighting/inclement weather is present, the race could be postponed or canceled.
Is there a lost & found location?
Yes, at the Info/Awards Tent.

How can I volunteer for the event?

Can parents run with their child at the Kids run?
Yes, parents can run their the registered child in the Kids Run without registering. Parents must register if they want a shirt and medal.
Packet Pick Up
Due to the exciting growth and record participation at last year’s event we are adjusting our event operations. To ensure a smooth, safe, and on-time start for everyone, we will no longer be offering race day packet pickup.
All participants must pick up their race bib, timing chip, and event shirt prior to race day.
Packet Pickup location: Shadowbend YMCA, 6145 Shadowbend Pl, The Woodlands, TX 77381
Starting November 21st- November 25th
Saturday: 10 AM – 5 PM
Sunday: 1 PM – 4 PM
Monday: 9 AM – 7 PM
Tuesday: 9 AM – 7 PM
Wednesday: 8 AM – 6 PM
If you are unable to attend in person, you can have a friend or family member pick up your packet for you.
