42nd Annual Guthrie Gallop 5K & 10K LIVE RACE

42ND ANNUAL GUTHRIE GALLOP LIVE RACE WITH VIRTUAL OPTION FOR 2026! 

Join us as we celebrate this 42 year running tradition, a 5K and 10K race with over 400 runners participating annually in this kick-off to spring event!  The race begins at the historic Sayre Theatre, and the course runs on local streets through the Athens and Sayre Boroughs.

Early Packet Pick-up: Friday, May 15, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Main Lobby Guthrie Learning Center (formerly School of Nursing), Sayre Campus (Wilbur Avenue Entrance).  VIRTUAL PARTICIPANTS CAN PICK UP RACE PACKETS AND T-SHIRTS DURING THIS TIME.

 
Race Day Packet Pick-up: Saturday, May 16, 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., Outside of the Sayre Theater (205 S Elmer Ave, Sayre, PA 18840)   *Early packet pick-up is strongly encouraged. 

The Guthrie Cancer Care Fund relies on income from this event to fulfill it's mission to provide critical assistance to Guthrie cancer patients facing a financial crisis, therefore, refunds are not available.    

In the event the Guthrie Gallop live race is forced to cancel, all participants will automatically be transitioned to the virtual race and still receive their awesome race swag in the mail!   All applicable sponsorship benefits will be honored and 100% of your generous sponsorship will benefit the Cancer Care Fund.

8 a.m.- 10K race begins  

LITTLE GALLOPERS! Kids Fun Run - The Kids' Fun Run (ages 10 and younger) is free and there is no official registration process for our young trotters!  Near the race day packet pick-up area at the Sayre Theater on race morning, the kids can fill in a paper with their name and enter in a drawing for a free raffle prize!  The first 50 kids receive a free gift!

9:00 a.m. - Raffle drawing  at the Sayre Theatre under the marquee
9:15 a.m. - All children ages 10 and younger will line up at the intersection of S. Elmer Ave and W. Hayden St. and run down S. Elmer Ave to the Guthrie Gallop finish line in front of the Sayre Theater marquee. Parents can run the Kids' Fun Run with their little gallopers for free!

 2026 Guthrie Gallop Beneficiary - GUTHRIE CANCER CARE FUND

Proceeds from the 2025 Guthrie Gallop raised over $24,000 for Guthrie’s Cancer Care Fund. This fund was designed to help with the many financial burdens that come with fighting a cancer diagnosis, whether its arranging payment to heat a home for a patient undergoing chemotherapy or providing gas gift cards to patients just to get them back and forth to treatment.  Because of your generosity, Guthrie cancer patients will receive the critical financial assistance they need while the finish their fight against cancer.    

RACE RESULTS

Race results will be posted online following the race. The top two - three finishers in our LIVE race from each age group and the overall winners will receive a medal.  If you are a qualifying finisher, you can pick up your 1-3rd place medal at the awards table once you have completed the race! The overall award winners will receive a $50 gift card!

Virtual Race Time and Place: Virtual race will take place May 11th - May 15th.  Run anytime, anyplace Gallop week! *Guthrie Gallop official course will be closed to virtual runners during the hours of the live race May 16th.  

Virtual Race Swag - Virtual race runners' packets and race swag can be picked up at early packet pick-up (Friday, May 15, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Main Lobby Guthrie Learning Center - formerly School of Nursing), Sayre Campus (Wilbur Avenue Entrance).  

*Register by April 12 to guarantee you will receive your 42ndAnnual Guthrie Gallop t-shirt.  T-shirts may be available after April 12 in limited quantities. There are no refunds or exchanges available for t-shirts.

*Virtual runner packets can be mailed to participants upon request.   

*Virtual race participants are not eligible for age group or overall awards. 

Virtual participants only will be able to record their own time and challenge themselves by tracking other virtual racers.  Remember, this is based on the honor system. No need to upload data to Strava or record your mile with a GPS.  Once you are registered, you will be able to upload your time using the following steps:

Step 1: Make sure you are logged into RunSignUp (use the email you used to register).
Step 2: Click on the RESULTS then click on the blue box that says SUBMIT VIRTUAL RESULTS. Search for your name.
Step 3: Add your time and save your results. It might take a few minutes to update in the overall results, but you can refresh the page and wait. That's it! You are done
