A Run Through The 'WOODS' - 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk

A Run Through the ‘Woods’ is fun neighborhood road race fundraiser for Hoover Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in the Mt. Lebanon School District, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The run/walk takes place at the elementary school.  The course goes through the scenic (and hilly) Cedarhurst Manor neighborhood of Mt. Lebanon hitting many of the ‘wood’ named streets.  The event is competitive and fun for all ages and abilities. We offer a 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk, Live Age group awards as well as sponsor filled goodie bags, photographers and water on the course, custom finisher medals, fun raffle baskets, and snacks at the finish line! Medical staff, and a police officer will be on site for the safety of all participants.

Hoover Elementary PTA strives to enhance the school experience for all students.  The purpose of this event is to raise money to support educational programs throughout the year.  We thank you for your support!

The following race day guidelines have been approved by the Allegheny County Department of Health.  These guidelines are in place for the safety of the participants, volunteers, and race directors.  

PRE-RACE GUIDELINES

Participants must be symptom free of illness for 14 days (May 21st and after).  Symptomatic individuals MUST stay at home.  
Participants traveling to event are recommended to travel alone or with members of immediate family only.
Participants ARE REQUIRED to wear a face covering to the starting line and can remove their face covering when they start running.  
Participants must wear shirt and shoes at all times.
Hand sanitizer stations will be provided at the start and finish line areas. 
Bottled water will be available at the finish line.  We highly recommend carrying your own water; there will be a water stop available with staff wearing masks and gloves.

DURING RACE GUIDELINES

No spitting, snotting, or projections of any bodily fluid before, during or after event.
Restroom accommodations will be available prior to the event at the upper parking lot.
All participants must avoid any physical contact with other participants which includes high fives, fist bumps, huddles, or other close contact before, during, or after the event.  During competition, participants must abide by the six-foot mandated social distancing regulations when passing other participants.  

POST RACE GUIDELINES

Awards ceremony for live runners of the 5K and raffle drawing will take place on the black top with plenty of space to social distance.  Masks required.  Runners can see their results online at a link to be posted later.​Thank you for your understanding during this unique time!

• WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN? A Virtual Run is an event you can complete Anytime/Anywhere! There isn't a set time or place since virtual runs are meant for you to complete at your convenience and at your own pace from the time the race registration opens till the time the race event closes.
• HOW DO I SUBMIT MY TIME? - After completing your Run Through the Woods 5k or 1 mile fun run, simply go the link below, click the blue submit results button, log in to your RunSignUp account and upload your results.  SUBMIT RESULTS HERE
• IS THERE A SPECIFIC APP WE NEED TO USE TO TRACK OUR TIME? You can track your run with any app, watch, or fitness device that you would like.
• CAN I COMPLETE MY VIRTUAL RUN BEFORE I HAVE RECEIVED MY GEAR? You don't have to wait to receive your gear in the mail.  You can complete your run at any time.

PARKING

Walking to the start is a great warm up!  Parking is limited due to the streets being closed for the race.  We suggest those who are close enough, walk to the start and allow parking for our friends who are coming from further away.  There is a lower Teacher Lot off of Robb Hollow that is first come first served with limited spots.  Road will close at 7:45am. Check out the course map and park on the out skirts – Sylvandell, Craigview, Robb Hollow (from Sylvandell and lower), Sandrae, Lakemont to name a few… or carpool from Dixon field at the bottom of Greenhurst.
