Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Fun Run Fundraiser

After careful consideration and with the health and safety of our sickle cell community, participants, volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters as our highest priority, the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter has made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's 28th Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Fun Run due to the anticipated impact and unpredictability of the approaching Nor’easter throughout our region. While we are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to gather together in person this year, the safety and well-being of our community will always come before fundraising. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who registered, donated, sponsored, volunteered, participated, or otherwise helped make this year’s event possible.

**Donations are welcomed up until December 31st, 2026**

We will work to process requests as promptly as possible.

Although the event itself will not take place, the tremendous love, commitment, and community spirit surrounding this year’s Walk/Fun Run will not be forgotten.

We are disappointed that we cannot walk and run together this year, but we remain grateful that we have a community willing to Move for a Cause, Honor the Legacy, and Shine a Light on Sickle Cell.
