Known for his tremendous sense of humor, Richard often joked with his children about having a "giant brain," encouraging them to use their brains to pursue higher education.
This scholarship honors Richard's legacy by helping other students use their "giant brain" to get an education. It is awarded to students who demonstrate both the drive to succeed in school and the persistence to overcome obstacles, with a preference for first-generation college students.
