About ASH Foundation Run/Walk 5K/3K

The ASH Foundation Run/Walk will take runners and walkers along the Riverwalk and through Woldenberg Park. Participants may choose the 3K or 5K course, which starts at 7:30 a.m. This year, participants may also select the virtual experience and run a 3K or 5K on their chosen course.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from all individual and group registration fees and additional individual donations will benefit ASH's Foundation.

 

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup (commemorative t-shirt, safety pins, and chip-timed bib) must be done in advance in the main concourse of Orange County Convention Center, West building.

  • December 10 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern
  • December 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern
  • December 12 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern
  • There is no day of registration or packet pickup.

If you preregister on or before 5 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, November 6, you are guaranteed a t-shirt and bib in your indicated size. After November 6, size and availability are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

ASH Foundation Run/Walk FAQs

This year's race is being offered in-person for those who can travel to Orlando and virtually for those unable to join in person. We are so pleased to have everyone join this important event. 

What will the in-person course look like? The ASH Foundation Run/Walk will take runners and walkers around the convention area near the NEW Universal Epic Universe theme park. 

What is a virtual run/walk? A virtual run/walk is an event you can participate in – from anywhere. You can run, jog, or walk along a chosen route at your own pace. ASH encourages you to show your race pride in stride and post your photos and videos and share your stories using #ASH25.

Why a Run/Walk? ASH recognizes the importance of physical and mental health during this time. A run/walk allows us to exercise safely while socially interacting with our community (online). While an in-person event is ideal; online interaction can be a healthy way to reconnect with colleagues and friends and support the ASH Foundation.

Virtual Run/Walk completion? For this event, you must complete your run (whatever distance you signed up
for) between December 1 - 14, 2025.

In-person Run/Walk? Sunday, December 7, 2025, runners will line up no later than 7:00 a.m. Warm-ups begin at 7:15 a.m. with remarks by ASH at 7:20 a.m. and the race starting at 7:30 a.m. The last participant should cross the finish line no later than 9:00 a.m. Eastern time.

How do I create a Group/Team? Participants are free to create a group or team and will have the option to during registration. You can join a group or team by searching for the name within the Groups/Teams tab at the top of the event webpage.

How do I purchase bulk registrations? If you want to buy a bulk number of registrations for a group, please get in touch with Tammy Huber at thuber@hematology.org.

Is there a mobile app for this year's event? Yes! The RaceJoy app will provide a real-time, innovative running experience to track your time via GPS. To download the RaceJoy app and view the RaceJoy User Tutorial Here.

Is there a specific way to track our time? The ASH Foundation Virtual Run/Walk, like most, is based on the honor system. You may track your time on the RaceJoy app with another app on your phone, watch, or any fitness device.

How do I submit my time? Submitting your time is not required, but if you want to appear on the online leaderboard and access your finisher's certificate, you will need to submit your time. You can do this by navigating the Results Page through the results link. Here, search for your name and add your
time. Alternatively, you can use the RaceJoy app to submit your time after your run or walk automatically.

What sizes are shirts being offered in? Due to feedback from recent races, we will only have unisex tshirts this year. No women's cut.

How to Submit Time

You will have two options to submit your results!  

  1. Download the RaceJoy App and follow instructions to start your tracking. When you cross the *virtual* finish line your results will automatically be submitted!
  2. Use your smart watch or favorite running app to time yourself over 5K, 10K, or a mile then you will be logging your miles directly into the RunSignUp System.  You will get an email with instructions for you to upload directly with your unique link on the morning of October 1st!  If you do not get the email, you can follow the below instructions. You will only be able to enter data from 12/05/2024-12/08/2024.  If you are having any trouble, please contact: events@runnersfit.com

About the ASH Foundation

The ASH Foundation was established in 2012 as a division of the American Society of Hematology, a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization. ASH’s Executive Committee governs the foundation and exists to align donors’ charitable giving interests with the Society's mission and priorities.

The ASH Foundation is dedicated to moving hematology forward through charitable support for ASH programs – helping hematologists conquer blood diseases worldwide. This year, the 2025 Run/walk event proceeds will go to the ASH Greatest Needs Fund.

You will be provided a form to complete to include payment, number of registrations, and contact information for a group leader. Tammy will provide you a coupon code that you will share with all team or group participants so they can register themselves and complete the required waiver.
