About Badge of Hope Haunted 5K
We are thrilled to announce our 2nd Annual Badge of Hope Haunted 5K race, where every step you take will make a difference! This race is hosted by the Auburndale Police Department at Camp Margaritaville. This spooky and exciting race will take place on September 26, 2026, at Camp Margaritaville, offering a unique blend of fitness and Halloween fun. Your participation will directly support the local area breast cancer patients. Additionally, proceeds will benefit our local Police Explorers program, nurturing the next generation of law enforcement professionals and strengthening community bonds.
The event kicks off with registration confirmation tables opening at 5PM, giving you plenty of time to get ready for the main event and pick up any remaining packets. At 7PM, runners will embark on a haunting 5K course, designed to challenge and excite participants of all age levels. But the fun doesn't end at the finish line! Post-race festivities will include an awards ceremony and a spine-tingling costume contest.
We encourage all participants to come dressed in their favorite and spookiest costumes, as you'll have the chance to showcase your creativity and potentially win prizes. Whether you're a seasoned runner or a first-time participant, this event promises a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Registration
How do I register for the race?
Registration is completed online through our race website. Once you submit your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with your details.
Can I register the day of the race?
Day-of registration may be available in person if the event has not sold out. We recommend registering early to reserve your spot and guarantee your preferred shirt size.
Is there a registration deadline?
Online registration closes day of the event. In person registration closes 30 minutes prior to the race start time. **Race T-shirts are not guaranteed for in person registrations day of the event.
Can I register more than one person at a time?
Yes.
Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Yes. Send us an email with your registration number, full name and a contact number to best reach you at. Transfer registrations after the shirt guaranteed date, will need to take the shirt size of the initial registration. We will do our best to accommodate a transfer.
Race Day
What time does the race start?
The race start time will be 7PM. Please arrive early so you have time to park, check in, and warm up. No late starts allowed due to course restrictions.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 30 to 60 minutes before the start time.
Where is race check-in located?
Check-in and packet pickup location details will be posted on the website and shared before race day.
What should I bring on race day?
Bring identification, running attire with comfortable running shoes, and a change of clothes if you plan on attending the post-race awards.
Will the race be held if it rains?
Yes, the race will take place rain or shine unless weather conditions create safety concern.
Packet Pickup
When is packet pickup?
Check-in and packet pickup location details will be posted on the website and shared before race day.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, in most cases another person may pick up your packet just so as long as they have your confirmation information.
Can I pick up my packet on race day?
Race Day pickup is an option but we encourage early pickup on the scheduled date and location to avoid delays.
Course and Participation
How long is the race?
This the Haunted 5K race is 3.1 miles. The Mummy Mile walk is 1 mile.
Can walkers participate?
Yes, walkers are welcome.
Can I use a stroller?
Yes, however, participants with strollers should start near the back for safety.
Are dogs allowed on the course?
Yes. All dogs must be on a leash, remain under control at all times. Pet owners bringing a dog must comply with event rules and should start near the back.
Will the race be timed?
Yes. The race will be chip timed.
Shirts and Awards
Will I receive a race shirt?
Shirts are included with registration. Each participant will receive one while supplies last or based on the deadline posted on the website.
Are medals or awards given?
Yes. Post-race awards begin at 8PM or until the last runner crosses the finish line. Awards will consist of top finishers by age group, overall placement, and raffle baskets.
How can I purchase a raffle ticket?
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase on race day. There will be a designated table located in the main building where you can purchase tickets and view the raffle basket options.
Safety and Rules
Are there restrooms available?
Yes.
Will there be water on the course?
Water station locations will be listed on the course map. Water will also be provided at the finish line post race.
Sponsorship and Community
How can my business become a sponsor?
Sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting the race team through the website’s sponsor information page or by emailing badgeofhope@auburndalefl.com
How will race proceeds be used?
Race proceeds will be split equally between Central Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and the Auburndale Police Department Police Explorers post 3435.
