Bill Steers 5k

Registration is now open!

The Bill Steers 5k is back again at Foxfield! This year, the race will be held during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month to support our goals of raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer and survivorship. All proceeds will be used by the UVA Department of Urology in their ongoing research. Racers ages six and up can participate at whatever pace works best for them! All genders and experience levels welcome. You can read more about the course and the history of this event by clicking on the tabs above.

When and where is the race?
The race starts and finishes at Scott Stadium. It begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.

I don’t want to run four miles, is it okay if I walk?
YES! Participants choose to walk for many different reasons- injury, keeping pace with younger family members, aches and pains, etc. Whatever your reason for walking, four miles is the same distance at 24 minutes as it is at 50 minutes!

How do I get my race results?
If you would like to receive race day results by the time you get to your phone, please follow these instructions!

• Go to your profile in RunSignUp
• Scroll down to Men’s Four Miler and click on MANAGE REGISTRATION 
• In the grey bar at the top of the page, go to RESULT NOTIFICATIONS (top right of grey bar)
• Click on Sign up for Result Notifications
• Fill out your contact info

Help! I chose the wrong t-shirt size during registration. How can I change my size?

• Sign In to RunSignUp
• Go to your Profile
• See Upcoming Races
• Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you are editing. Then click on GIVEAWAY in the top navigation bar.

I’ve already registered, but now I want to join a racing team. Can I do this?
Absolutely! When you registered, you received an email that includes a link that is labeled “Manage Registration” (link is located above the QR code). This link will take you to a runsignup.com page that will prompt you to sign in. Once signed in, there will be an arrow in the top right-hand corner of the screen with a drop-down menu. Select “Profile” and then “Manage Registration” on the right and then “Group/Team”. From this screen, you can create a new team or join an existing one.

RUNNING TEAM COMPETITION
Compete at a higher level! Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Entry requirements:

• Each individual needs to fill out and submit their own individual race entry form.A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 are allowed on each team.
• Team categories can be either Hospital Team, Open (any age) or Masters (all members 40+).

FATHER-SON OR FAMILY TEAM COMPETITION
Is your family the fastest? Find out! Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Entry requirements:

• Each family needs to fill out and submit a race entry form with all family members listed. If multiple forms are use, please note your interest in a team on all of the forms.
• A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 are allowed on each team.
• Team categories can be either Father/Son(s) or Family (all members must be related).

Do you have awards?
The awards ceremony begins around 9:30 am at the Ampitheater. The Top Three overall finishers will receive special awards. Prizes will be awarded to placers in the following Age Groups : 10 & younger, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over. 

This is a male-only race. How can the females in my life get involved?
The Men’s Four Miler requires a lot of volunteer-power to help things run smoothly! There are volunteer opportunities to help with packet pick-up and for the day of the race. 

Are strollers or baby carriers allowed on the race course?
No, because of safety issues due to the high volume of participants, strollers of any kind (including jogging strollers) and baby carriers are not allowed on the race course.

Can I use my headphones/earbuds during the race?
Due to safety issues, we discourage using headphones during the race.

I’ve just realized that I can’t come to the race. Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds on registration fees, but you still get your race bib and hat.

It looks like it might rain or snow on race day! What is the weather plan?
The race happens rain or shine, but icy or dangerous conditions may require a delay or cancellation.

My CTC membership expires before the race, do I need to renew now to get the discount?
Yes, we validate membership as of the race day to receive the CTC discount. If your membership expires before race day, you'll need to renew to receive the discount.
