Who Can Participate?
This event is open to everyone. We simply ask that you consider your fitness level before registering, as the stair climb can be physically demanding.
Firefighters from CKC, Buffalo, Blacksburg, and Antioch Volunteer Fire Departments are asked to contact us before registering for a special coupon code.
What Is This Event?
The Blacksburg 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a community fundraiser honoring the first responders who gave their lives 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, while also recognizing the dedication of our local fire departments who serve our community every day.
Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories (2,071 stairs), symbolizing the climb made by firefighters inside the World Trade Center. This event is both a physical challenge and a meaningful way to support those who protect us on a daily basis.
Why Are We Doing This?

We gather to remember the courage shown on 9/11 and to honor the everyday courage of firefighters in our own community; those who respond without hesitation and put others before themselves.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to the four local fire departments serving Blacksburg, SC:
- Cherokee-Kings Creek (CKC) Volunteer Fire Department
- Buffalo-Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department
- Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department
- Antioch Volunteer Fire Department.
When Is It?
Saturday, September 12, 2026
Registration begins at 8:00 AM
A special kick-off ceremony will begin at 8:30 AM
Participants may start between 8:00-10:00 AM
Final entry will be accepted no later than 10:30 AM

How Does It Work?
Participants will complete the climb at their own pace, reaching 110 stories (2,071 stairs). Most finish in 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on individual fitness level.
