Interactive Course Maps:
10k Course Map
5k Course Map
Kids Course

---------------------------------------------------------

COURSE SURFACE
The 5k and 10k courses run CLOCKWISE around Broomfield Commons park, which is a both concrete and dirt trail. The 10k does two loops.

SUPPORT
WATER STATIONS
There is one water station on course (10k runners will see this twice) at approximately mile one (additionally mile 4 of the 10k).

PORT-A-JOHNS
Restrooms are located at the Expo area for pre- and post-race. There are no restrooms on the course.

COURSE CUT-OFF

9:45 AM: 10k Runners must complete first lap by this time.  Course starts a staggered shut down at this time.
All participants must start with their designated start/corral group (5k on the south side; 10k on the north side) All racers must be off the course no later than 10:30 AM.

10K COURSE NOTES
The 10k course does a double lap around the park. This means you will be lapping many of the 5k runners/walkers. The 10k leaders and mid-packers tend to meet the 5kers near mile 3.75/4 (when you enter the trail system by the rec center) and especially near the water station. Despite trying to communicate to the 5k runner/walkers to keep right as much as possible, there does tend to be some bottlenecking happening on course, slowing down 10k runners. Due to permitting and scheduling, there is not a great solution to prevent this. All that to say, this is not a world record breaking, PR making 10k course. You may get slowed down on the 2nd half of the race.

KIDS COURSE
The kid's course is approximately half a mile. There will be a leader to lead the kids through the course. Parents are allowed to run with their kiddos if they would like. Kids will receive a finisher's prize at the finish line.

COVID Protocols

When signing up for this event, you agreeing to a set of COVID guidelines and social contract. Those guidelines include:

1. You agree to wear a mask/face covering when in the expo area, start corral and after you cross the finish line. Face covering will not be required while you are running.
2. You agree to social distance of at least 6 ft while at the event including in the start area, finish area, and expo.
3. You must be "healthy" to attend. Runners with COVID symptoms are not allowed to participate.  Please stay home if you are exhibiting any covid-like or other illness type symptoms including, but not limited to: fever, cough, sore/scratchy throat, fatigue, diarrhea, body aches & chills, loss of taste or smell, nausea, congestion.
4. You will not get to the expo more than 30 minutes before your scheduled start time/wave. When you arrive, you are instructed to go to the starting area and your starting corral section (marked by signs and volunteers). After you finished, you are instructed to leave as soon after as possible and not cross through the starting area.
5.  Spectators/guests may not gather in groups and must remain 6 ft or more apart between households if stationed along the route or at other meeting spots.
6. You will agree to bring any race hydration/nutrition needed before or during your race. There will NOT be a water station on the 5k course. There will be water and some light snacks at the finish line.

In addition, all runners will be sent out in small waves (of 25) to allow for social distancing (waves assigned at registration based on estimated finish time). While in the expo area, talking to vendors, and getting finisher food, face coverings will be mandatory. You will  see all of our staff wearing masks at all times and volunteers wearing gloves while handing out finisher food/water. As the regulations change due to this ever-changing pandemic, we will keep registered racers informed with the most recent guidelines.

What else have we (race organizers) done due to COVID-19?5k registration capped so that no more than 160 people will be participating at a time.  5 'mini-events' of 160 participants (in even smaller groups of no more than 25 runners every 2 minutes) will be held in succession.

The 10k event and kids ½ mile run has been canceled.
The 5k course has been altered to run on trails so that there is street/driveway access for staggered groups of runners to attend their appropriate run times throughout the morning (rather than shutting down entrances and driving ways.)

All staff has been working 100% remotely and is reporting their health status leading up to the event.
Any staff or volunteers who are experiencing symptoms or who simply do not feel comfortable working this event will stay home.
Any paid participant who cannot run on race day due to symptoms should email the race director so we can make your participation 'virtual.'

Virtual Info and FAQs

VIRTUAL related info and questions/answers are below! If you're looking for in-person FAQs, click HERE or see the event website.
See the Race Website for the most recent information regarding this event and health protocols.

When you sign up to run the Virtual race of the Broomfield Turkey run, you may run ANYTIME! That's the beauty of a virtual race! Most virtual racers will run on their own on the same day as the in-person event (Thanksgiving!), but you can run before OR after that date! The virtual race RESULTS (and the ability to log your results) will be open from November 23 to November 30. Does that mean you have to run in that date range? No. You may run on November 16, but you'll just have to wait and log in on Nov 23rd to report your time! See below for more common virtual FAQs!

WHEN should I run this?
You can run this ANYTIME you desire!  Many participants will be running on the originally scheduled date/weekend, November 26, but that’s the benefit of a virtual event.  Only the RACE is virtual – the RUN is REAL, WHENEVER you choose to do it.  Want to run now?  That’s fine! Need to wait? That's fine, too.

WHERE should I run this?
That is 100% your choice.  You can run outside anywhere you'd like or take your miles to the treadmill!  If you choose to run outdoors, please take every precaution ordered in your area.

How do I report my TIME?
Virtual results submission links for each distance will be active Nov 23 - 30  Use THIS LINK and follow the prompts when you click "submit virtual results!"

Are TIMES verified?
No.  For the virtual event, times reported are on the ‘honor system’.

WILL RESULTS be posted?
You bet! As more and more people submit their time, preliminary results will be on the RESULTS page of the website. Virtual results sets are separate from in-person results.

Will participants be rewarded based on PERFORMANCE?
Not for the virtual race, because participants are running in different locations, times, etc. we will not award anything based on performance.

HOW will I get my SWAG?
You are welcome to join us at Packet Pick Up in advance of the event!  If you don't pick up your swag in person, It will be sent through USPS on Monday, November 30.  If your address associated with this race is outdated, EMAIL US IMMEDIATELY, info@3Wraces.com We also recommend you update your profile too, but this will only affect FUTURE registrations.
