Buck Ridge Burn Trail Races

Two fun racing options for my awesome Buck Ridge Burners this year! For Covid19 Considerations, see below.

OPTION 1: IN-PERSON RACE-DAY RACES!
Our 2026 IN-PERSON events will send you out into the woods of the Michaux State Forest to test your trail grit on one of three challenging courses. What better way to shake out those winter legs than to leap over logs and splash through April creeks? Come play in the woods with us and feed your soul! 

OPTION 2: RUN ANY TRAIL VIRTUAL EVENT
Don’t want to or can’t travel to the Michaux for the event? Want your sister in California to race with you from across the country? Find a favorite trail course by you and submit your virtual results to earn your BRB swag and be a part of our awesome BRB community!! Again, there will be a limited amount of registrations for this option, so sign up early!

In the mood for a quick trail fix or trying out the trail scene for the first time? The 5K course will leave you feeling satisfied with rolling, muddy double-track, winding single-track, and refreshing April creek crossings. Come and discover this 5K wonderfulness!

BACK THIS YEAR!! Get more than your money's worth out of this 10K+! Run a classic Michaux trail mix of double-track, snaking single-track climbs, and wild, windy descents! This is SUCH A FUN COURSE!!

Looking for a different challenge? Take on the grit-testing Half Marathon! There’s a little bit of everything on this course: creek crossings, mud, roots, rocks, grinding climbs, grassy double-track, and swift, snaking single track. The course is extremely well-marked with a generous 4 hour & 15min time limit. Same awesome course as 2025! Come and git it!!!

Anyone 0-100 years old with a reasonable sense of direction and/or ability to follow brightly colored flags within a practical amount of time may enter the 5K.

NEW THIS YEAR!!! The 10K is limited to runners aged 13+ (minors with adult consent), although runners ages 12 and under may enter if accompanied the ENTIRE DISTANCE by an adult. This adult may register as an entrant for regular price, or accompany the child for free but will be ineligible for competitive prizes and receive no race shirt. 

(This "free" option is in place to encourage young runners with less trail experience to challenge themselves. There is NO adult "pacing" option!)

The Half Marathon will be limited to runners aged 16+, although we will allow runners 15 and under who will be accompanied the ENTIRE DISTANCE by an adult. This adult may register as an entrant for regular price or accompany the child for free but will be ineligible for competitive prizes and receive no race shirt. (This "free" option is in place to encourage younger runners with less trail experience to challenge themselves. There is NO adult "PACING" OPTION.)

There will be a reduced registration fee for minors (17 and under). This age-based pricing will automatically be applied once you enter the child's birthdate during registration. 

The IN-PERSON participant cap is 400 runners, 190 Half Marathoners, 105 10Kers, and 105 5Kers, so register soon!  Once the participant cap is met for each of the IN-PERSON races, a waitlist will be maintained.

You MUST register by 11:59pm on 3/22 to guarantee your technical shirt! (**Guaranteed shirts for in-person racers are only guaranteed until packet pickup on race day. If you do not show up to the race, you forfeit your shirt.  Virtual racers will be sent their shirts.**)    We will accept online registration here on RunSignUp until 11:59pm on March 22nd or until race is full, whichever comes first.

The top three male, female, and non-binary finishers of all IN-PERSON races, as well as the top two in 7 age categories (0-19, 20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69, 70+) will receive handmade finisher's medals.  Of course, all participants who sign up by March 22nd will be guaranteed a beautiful technical short-sleeve T-shirt (**Guaranteed shirts for in-person racers are only guaranteed until packet-pickup on race day. If you do not show up to the race, you forfeit your shirt. Virtual racers will be sent their shirts.**)

!!!EVERY FINISHER will receive a special handmade, laser-etched (with original artwork), uniquely stained finisher's coaster when you cross the finish line!!!

Virtual runners will receive theirs when they submit their results!

For the RUN ANY TRAIL VIRTUAL racers, there will be NO PACKET PICKUP. I will send your schtuff right to your door as soon as humanly possible after April 30th.

Although IN-PERSON-race-day racers can pick up their shirt, swag, and bib on race day during their check-in time, why not save a trip to your car on race day and come get your swag ahead of time at one of two packet pickup locations! Again this year, we will have a packet pickup at the new ELM Active Showroom next to ELM Shoes on Friday and at The Appalachian Running Company on Saturday! As an extra bonus, the first 10 people to come in for Pre-Race Pickup on each day will receive a FREE hand-etched Buck Ridge Burn glass!! A new design for 2026! Make sure you get one! (A limited number will also be for sale for $10 each.)

Saturday, April 11th from 930a-1230p at The Appalachian Running Company at 290 E.Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA, 17013.

 Teams are a great way to have even MORE fun at BRB!!  Plus, teams of 5 or more will get a $5 discount off their entry fees! When registering you will have the option to Join a Group/Team. All Members of a SOCIAL TEAM are linked by their team name and password. As your team grows, everyone benefits, even those who registered first! Once you hit 5 members, members 1-4 will automatically be refunded $5 by RunSignUp. The 5th member, and anyone after that, will be charged the discounted rate!

A team can be your built-in training support system. You can plan training runs together and encourage one another to reach your goals!  It can also provide a little friendly competition that may give you that extra push you need to reach your potential!

Please read carefully through the policies and only register if you are willing to comply. 

We plan to stay compliant with the CDC recommendations for holding a safe outdoor event.

• If you have been exposed to the Coronavirus within 5 days of race day and are not vaccinated or have not received a booster, please email the race director. You will have the option to transfer your registration to a virtual option. This is per the CDC recommendations for quarantine/isolation.
• Of course, if you have any symptoms of Covid-19, please do not come to the race and expose your fellow trail runners. Email the RD and we'll figure out an option for you.

In the event that the race is forced to cancel, I will offer participants a choice of switching to a VIRTUAL event, being deferred until 2027, or to receive a partial refund. So no worries! You will get some BRB one way or another!
