About Carrboro 5K/10K

Last Year we added the 5K along with the 10K race and it was a big success so we will continue with the two races this year. If you are signing up for the Le Tour de Carrboro a three race series benefiting Carrboro Area Charities, you will need to choose to do either the 5K or the 10K as part of the series.  The Carrboro 10K is 6.2 miles, the Carrboro 5K is 3.1 miles.  Both races start at 8 a.m. at McDougle Middle School, wind through Carrboro neighborhoods, and finish on the McDougle track. NOTE: THE 5K RACE IS CAPPED AT 250 PARTICIPANTS SO REGISTER EARLY!
We have the best deal in the Triangle with registration fees for either race at only $35!  So sign up now and help us to support our Community Partners.

Registration and Bib Pickup

In-person registration and bib pickup will be available at Fleet Feet in Carrboro on Friday, October 2, from 12-6:30 pm, and Race Day morning from 6:30-7:45 am.

IMPORTANT! In person registration on Friday or Race Day will be done electronically by scanning a QR code which will take you to the registration form that you will fill out on your phone. So, please bring your smart phone and credit card if you are registering in person. This year bibs will be assigned at the time you pick up your packet so no need to know a bib number.  If you pre-registered, you will receive a QR code that you can show at packet pickup to speed things up or we can just look you up by name.

Race entries are not refundable and are not transferable, i.e., you cannot give your bib number to someone else. By doing so, the results (awards, age group, and overall) will be incorrect.

Course

Both races begin in front of McDougle Middle School, wind through downtown Carrboro and its neighborhoods, and finish on the McDougle track.  The 10K will run the loop in reverse from previous years to keep the 5K and 10K runners separated. Both courses are certified by USATF.  Details can be found at the following links: 10K: 10K Certification and 5K: 5K Certification

For the Kids

Races for kids are  FREE for children aged 2-9 and will be held after the races at approximately 9:45 (after the awards ceremony). Races will be split by age groups as follows: 50 meter race for 2-3 year olds, 100 meter race for 4-5 year olds,  200 meter race for 6-10 year olds.

Stroller and Pet Policies

Baby strollers and joggers are permitted, but for the safety of all participants please start at the back behind the runners.

Pets are not permitted on the race course.

Walkers are welcome!

We encourage everyone to join us at our events. If you want to walk either course, that's great! However, if the trailing police car passes you, you must follow normal pedestrian rules -- move to the sidewalk or side of the road. Our timing service tries to capture the time for everyone who crosses the finish line, so even if the police close the course, you should receive a finish time.

We need Volunteers to make the race successful!  By Volunteering you are helping some great Carrboro area Charities listed below.
