About CASA

Imagine you are four years old. You've suddenly been removed from your home because it's no longer safe. You are placed in foster care, with strangers, in a strange place, for reasons you don't understand. Your heart fills with fear, sadness and uncertainty. Fortunately, you are paired with a CASA Volunteer.
A CASA volunteer is a stable and reassuring presence in the life of a child in foster care, maintaining a strong connection until permanency is established. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate, someone trained and assigned to a child by the sitting judge of the dependency court. These volunteer advocates get to know their foster youth, check in with their parents, are present at court hearings, and communicate with social workers and counselors. They are the eyes and ears for the judge, gathering information, reviewing records and making recommendations that keep the foster youth's best interests at the forefront.
Currently, there are 1,500 youth in San Joaquin County foster care, 80 of them waiting to be paired with a CASA Volunteer.
We need CASA Volunteers. We need your support...WE NEED YOU! Here are some ways you can help:
  • Learn More: Schedule a 15 minute info session with Trinidad Newcomb, our Program Manager. Call: (209) 644-5319 or email tnewcomb@nochildabuse.org
  • Become a CASA Volunteer!
  • Follow us on social media. Like, save and share our posts.
  • Share our program with coworkers, family, church or community organizations.
  • Donate to CASA of San Joaquin County or sponsor our fundraising events.
