Christmas 5K/10K/Half Marathon in July - Shreveport

Celebrate the holiday spirit in the middle of summer at the Christmas in July 5K/10K/Half Marathon!  This means Santa is on Vacay!

Come on out and join us at Walker Place Park in Bossier City as we run the A.R. Teague trail along the Red River. This festive race brings all the cheer of the season—without the cold—giving athletes a fun and energetic way to race during the warm summer months.

Whether you’re tackling the 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon, you’ll enjoy a spirited race atmosphere filled with holiday flair, seasonal fun, and motivation from start to finish. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome to join in the celebration.

All athletes who cross the finish line will receive a custom finisher medal and a spirited, race-themed shirt to commemorate their accomplishment. Awards will be presented to men and women for all three distances to the top finishers in the usual five-year age groups, starting at 10 & Under.

Top finishers will also have the opportunity to earn a spot in the Championships held in January 2025. The number of spots available is based on the total registration...see event website

We always do packet pickup on race morning starting one hour prior to the start of the race.  If we have an early pickup available, it will be added here.

A mission to recognize the memory of Zachary Scott Funderburk through wrestling scholarships to accredited universities for deserving student-athletes.

Zachary was born on August 13, 1996 to Wallace Funderburk and Ashlie Walpole Kyle. On March 22, 2024, at the youthful age of 27, Zac’s life, along with his qualities of love and service, was taken from us.

Zac was a 2X Louisiana High School State Champion wrestler, 1X Greco-Roman State Champion wrestler, and a four-year collegiate wrestler at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. While at Briar Cliff University, he was the 2018-19 GPAC Champion at 149#, named First Team All-GPAC, and was a National Championship Qualifier (just one match short of NAIA All-American status). After college, Zac’s dream of serving his country in the US Marine Corps was cut short due to a back injury that occurred while in Officer Candidate School. It was then that Zac found his calling as a Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Agent, but still he continued his love for the sport of wrestling by coaching youth & high school wrestlers around Bossier Parish.

The purpose of the “Be A Zac” Foundation is to raise funds to grant scholarships to those who wish to continue the sport of wrestling in college and who otherwise possess the “Zac” qualities of love, family & friends, service to others, and dedication to personal endeavors.

It's not completely flat, but it's no where near hilly so it safe to say FLAT & FAST!!!  Besides that, you'll be so busy having fun, that you won't even notice.

We will have Self-Serve water stations approximately every 1.5 miles. If you are wanting to run fast and not stop, you might want to bring your own personal hydration.

Pacing

Participants will need to finish with at least a 16 min/mile pace.

Running is more F-U-N together, even if we're far apart! 

Grab your friends, co-workers, neighbors or family and participate as a TEAM.  Your TEAM can be local or across the states; virtual participants will have their shirts shipped!  Teams of 5 or more receive discounts off their registration, discounts below.

• 5+:  $2.50 off
• 11+:  $3.75 off
• 21+:  $5 off
• 51+:  $6.25 off
• 100+:  $7.50 off

Our events are designed to be fun for the entire family. With that in mind; any competitor, spectator, parent, volunteer, or sponsor, exhibiting unsportsmanlike
conduct or interfering with the positive, competitive atmosphere of the event will be asked to leave the venue and course immediately with no refunds and will be disqualified.

All registrations are final. There are no refunds, deferments, or transfers.

Event will take place rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, we will cancel for the safety of the participants...there are no refunds in this case.

Participants that do not show up to race/event forfeit their right to any swag.

No COVID-19 Refunds.  If unforeseen circumstances arise due to COVID-19, including any Federal or State Health Emergency, refunds will not be provided.  The event will go 100% Virtual & shirts will be shipped to participants.
