COVID Protocols
We will be following all Colorado and Boulder County guidelines and regulations that are in place at any given time. As we get closer and closer to the event date, we will continue to update our racers and implement the necessary guidelines issued to us.
Here are general protocols and guidelines that will be in place at the Colorado 13er and are required of all racers, volunteers, and staff members in attendance. When signing up for the Colorado 13er, you will agree to a set of COVID guidelines and the social contract. Those guidelines will include:
1. You agree to wear a mask/face covering when in the expo area, start corral, and after you cross the finish line. Face covering will not be required while you are running if you can maintain 6ft of distance from other racers and citizens using the trails.
2. You agree to social distancing of at least 6ft while at the event including in the start area, finish area, and expo.
3. ADVANCED packet pick up is HIGHLY ENCOURAGE. There will race day pick up at a designated spot in the expo only. No race day registration.
4. Must be "healthy" to attend. Please stay home if you are exhibiting any COVID-like or other illness type symptoms including, but not limited to: fever, cough, sneezing, sore/scratchy throat, etc.
5. No dogs are allowed at the Colorado 13er.
6. You will not get to the expo more than 30 minutes before your scheduled start time/wave. When you arrive, you are instructed to go to your staging area and your starting corral section (marked by signs and volunteers). After you finished, you are instructed to leave as soon as possible.
7. You will agree to bring any race hydration/nutrition needed before your race. There will NOT be a water station on the 5k course. There will two water stations that half marathon races see four times. There are some light snacks at the finish line. All food and water will be handled by volunteers and staff members ONLY wearing gloves and practicing regular hand washing and sanitizing. Racers can not touch or self-serve food or water.
In addition, all runners will be sent out in small waves to allow for social distancing (waves assigned at registration based on estimated finish time). While in the expo area, talking to vendors, and getting finisher food, masks will be mandatory. You will also see all of our staff wearing masks at all times and volunteers wearing gloves while handing out finisher food/water. As the regulations change due to this ever-changing pandemic, we will keep registered racers informed with the most recent guidelines.

FAQs
All general 3W FAQs can be found HERE.
For this race specifically:
This is my FIRST event. I have a lot of questions...
THAT IS AMAZING! We're so happy to have you join us. Did you know that 30% of racers report that is their first time racing, too? Email the race director if you ever have a question that isn't answered here.
The other runners participating next to you are some pretty remarkable people and we KNOW that they will be encouraging and supportive if you have questions on race day - just ask someone standing next to you! You may just make a new friend!
You call this a "13er." What is the true distance of the race and why does my GPS read something different?
The '13er' course is a true 13.1 miles, also known as a 'half marathon."
The 5k course is 3.1 miles. The 10k is 6.2 miles.
All courses are measured using industry-standard, MECHANICAL equipment (e.g. Jones Counter). By this measurement, the actual surface of the course is measured, not digital estimations which are used in GPS technology. For this reason, your GPS watch recorded distance may vary from the true 3.1 or 13.1 miles of the actual course.
I can't remember if I'm actually registered. How can I check?
To look up the participant list for any race, click on the "REGISTER" button for that event. On the registration page you will find a blue tab labeled, "Find a Participant." Click there and you will be able to search the list of registered runners. This applies to runners who registered through our site.
If you didn't get a confirmation email, chances are that your email address was typed into the software erroneously. In that case, please email us and we'll help make the fix!
I'm a walker and will take longer than the course cut off time. Does this mean I can't participate in the fun event?
Walkers are welcome and we'll do everything we can to include you in our very fun day! Although the course may 'close' at a certain time to accommodate City or other requirements, we will start you earlier than the rest so that you can finish before the closure time. If this is the case for you, email us in advance!
May I participate with my stroller?
Check the specific 'course info' page regarding elevation and course surface. Strollers are welcome but we recommend you have a jogging stroller to accommodate the packet gravel parts of the course. If you can push it, you can bring it!
If your child stays in the stroller the whole race, no, you do NOT have to register them as a separate participant.
Our rule is, if they are using their own two feet to participate in one of our races, then, YES, you do need to register them. This is due to safety, participant counts for city permits and calculation of materials needed for the race!
May I participate with my dog?
No. Please leave your furry friend at home. We run through part of a nature preserve that DOES NOT allow dogs!
Do you have pacers on the course?
Nope. You're welcome to wear your watch. :)
I picked up my shirt and now I'd like a different size. What can I do?
Bring your unworn shirt to the race. As soon as the race starts, we open 'shirt exchange' with any shirts that were unclaimed. You can trade out your unused shirt for a different size, as long as supplies last.

Sneakers4Good Info
We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Sneakers4Good to provide you with a socially responsible way to donate your gently worn, used or new sneakers and running shoes to a good cause we support! The sneakers will help benefit Growing Home as well as give a hand up, not a handout, to micro-enterprises in 25 developing countries. The athletic shoes will be kept out of landfills where they can take decades to fully decompose. Visit Sneakers4Good to learn more!
It's super simple! All you need to do is bring your lightly worn athletic shoes and sneakers to the race (either on race day or at packet pick up). We collect them and mail them and a donation is made to Growing Home!
Please donate only gently worn, used, and new athletic shoes. These sneakers, trainers, and other athletic shoes will be worn again by people in developing nations, so please make sure there are no holes or soles falling off and that they are in wearable condition. Dress shoes, sandals, brown shoes, flip flops, cleats, etc. and other shoes that are NOT athletic shoes will NOT be accepted.
Please tie your shoes together or put a rubber band around the pair!

Virtual Racing FAQs
Answer any questions by visiting the Colorado 13er FAQ Page on the Colorado 13er Website! VIRTUAL related questions/answers are below.
WHAT Is included in the virtual race registration?
-> ALL virtual racers receive a shirt, Digital bib, Race Joy App tracking, digital finisher's cert and registration includes shipping. 13er virtual participants also receive a finisher's medal.
WHEN should I run this?
-> You can run this ANYTIME you desire. If it is best for you to wait until later this year to run this distance, then WAIT! Many participants will be running on the originally scheduled date/weekend, June 6, but that’s the benefit of a virtual event. Only the RACE is virtual – the RUN is REAL, WHENEVER you choose to do it. Need to wait until the middle of June? That’s fine!
WHERE should I run this?
-> That is 100% your choice. You can run the real course on a different day/time than the in-person event or run around your neighborhood! You can run outside anywhere you'd like or take your miles to the treadmill! If you choose to run outdoors, please take every precaution ordered in your area. You can find the real course HERE. You can use "Race Joy Anywhere" for this race and that will allow you to use the APP for your virtual race. When you use Race Joy (for anywhere or for the real course), your time/results will automatically post!
HOW should I run this?
-> Run any way that works for you! If you’re signed up for the 13er race and your training has been thrown out of whack by recent events, then split it up! Need to walk a mile a day for a couple of weeks to earn it? Then do that! The virtual race is on the honor system, so if you have chosen to break you 13.1 miles up, just add up your times when you report your results!
Are TIMES verified?
-> No. For the virtual event, times are on the ‘honor system’.
How do I report my TIME?
-> The virtual results submission link is active from June 1 - June 8th. Use THIS LINK and follow the prompts when you click "submit virtual results!" You don't have to submit a time; there is an option to just mark your race as complete.
If you miss that window and still want to report your results, you'll have to email us at info@3wraces.com and we can manually import your time on the back end.
WILL RESULTS be posted?
->Yep, via the same link you use to report your time (above).
Will participants be rewarded based on PERFORMANCE?
No, not for the virtual race, because participants are running in different locations, times, etc. we will not award anything based on performance
HOW/WHEN will I get my SWAG?
-> It will be sent through USPS. If your address in your RunSignUp account is outdated, please update it now. Go to RunSignUp.com Click on "Profile" where you may then edit your personal details. If your address is not in RunSignUp, you may add it now. Likewise, you may email info@Colorado13er.com
Please keep in mind that since the live event is June 6th, and some virtual racers will pick up their swag at Advance Packet Pickup (see next questions), all other virtual swag will be maile the Monday after the in-person event.
May I attend Advanced Packet Pick Up?
YES! Please do! We would love that! If you want your swag a little bit earlier please come to advance packet pick up. Otherwise, we will mail it after the in-person event.
Details including date, time and place are HERE!
What if I want to change my DISTANCE?
-> You can do this through your RunSignUp account under “manage my registration” or you can email your request. info@Colorado13er.com
SWAG
All participants receive a performance blend, short-sleeved tee - gender-specific sizing available. 13er FINISHERS receive a collector's finisher medal!
Charity Partner
At every 3W Races event, we partner with a hyper-local charity. For the Colorado 13er event, we are excited to partner with Community Food Share!
"At Community Food Share, we’re more than a food bank — we’re a neighbor and a friend who’s been part of the fabric of Boulder and Broomfield Counties for decades. We know that ending hunger in our communities requires collaboration. That’s why we not only provide food directly to families, seniors, students, and others, but we’re also a hub — delivering millions of pounds of food a year to local partners to reach people in their communities. Because when we work together, we give more people access to fresh, nutritious food."
For every $1 donated to Community Food Share, you are able to provide 3 meals
You can donate to Community Food Share online HERE. The money donated through our portal goes directly to them. You can also bring in-kind donations on race day to be entered into an exclusive raffle for prizes from 3W Races and our sponsors. More info HERE.
