Colton's Main Street Run

The 17th annual Colton's Main Street Run honors Colton Sherrill, a 10-year-old athlete and Durant Main Street volunteer who passed away 18 years ago from an unknown heart defect while playing basketball.

Proceeds support CPR and AED education, emergency equipment for schools and communities, higher education scholarships, and community projects.

In 2025, we provided $94,630 in community support for our area.

10K Course is the same as the 5K then continues past the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, the historic Choctaw Nation (former headquarters) and back to Market Square. View the course below. Click here for the downloadable PDF.

The Run is held in memory of Colton Sherrill, son of Trace and Dena Sherrill. The 10-year old athlete and Durant Main Street volunteer passed away in 2008 while playing basketball from an unknown heart defect.

The proceeds will be used to provide education in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s), to provide emergency equipment, including but not limited to AEDs, for use by schools and communities, to fund higher education scholarships, and community projects.

COLTON'S STORY

Colton was a shy boy who had the cutest little “crooked smile”. Many teachers, coaches and parents worked hard to get Colton to interact with them and after much prodding, they were usually rewarded with his trade mark “crooked smile.”

Anyone who knew Colton knew he was an avid Oklahoma Sooner’s fan. He wore Sooner red with pride, complete with official OU football helmet. One time, he and a friend were accused of high-jacking a neighbor’s OSU flag following a Sooner victory over OSU. The flag mysteriously reappeared a few days later.

Colton would have been such an OKC Thunder Fan and would be so excited that they are champions!

OK Runner will be set up during the Early Packet Pickup on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 12:00 - 7:00 PM and ready to assist with your running shoe needs. If you are new to running or have not ever been professionally fitted, we highly recommend that you talk to the OK Runner staff and let them professionally fit you in the correct running shoe. They are traveling all the way from Norman, so let's show them how much we appreciate their efforts for our run!

VIRTUAL EVENT

October 17- October 25, 2026

The virtual format allows you to run/walk anytime and any place between October 17, 2026 and October 25, 2026. You can run with a stroller, on a treadmill, walk or go for a hike.   Each registrant will receive a long sleeve Colton's run t-shirt, a Digital Bib, and Finisher Certificate.  We will not be giving out awards for the virtual event.

Early Packet Pickup - Friday, October 16, 2026

10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Market Square (2nd and Main) Durant, Oklahoma - If you live within a 30 mile radius of Durant, OK - please pick up your shirts at Early Packet Pickup or on race day.  We will mail shirts outside of the 30 mile radius and for out of state runners.

Volunteers will assist with parking on race day and the parking map will help you locate designated parking areas.  You can also park along Third Street between Main and Evergreen Streets. 

Please do not park in front of the Main Street businesses; they will be open on race day and we need to save those parking spots for their patrons.
