The 5K is a professionally timed race. Medals will be awarded by age group and gender (male and female).

The Team Granger Dean Granger Memorial 5K is more than just a race. It is a long standing tradition rooted in community, purpose, and giving back.

For over a decade, this event has been proudly hosted in Orange, Texas, bringing together runners, families, and supporters from across the area. Even through challenges like Hurricane Harvey and the COVID-19 pandemic, the race has remained a constant, pausing only when necessary but always returning stronger because of the continued support from the community.

If you have been part of Team Granger for a while, you know how much the Dean Granger Memorial 5K means to us and to Orange. This is a race we deeply believe in. It is one we have proudly grown year after year, and its success comes from the people who continue to show up and support it.

At its core, this event is about giving back. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to United Way of Orange County Texas, helping fund a wide range of local agencies and programs that serve the people of Orange County. From education and health to financial stability, the impact of this race reaches far beyond the starting line.

What began years ago at Granger Chevrolet has grown into a major community event. Today, the race is held in conjunction with Orangetober in partnership with the City of Orange, creating an even bigger and more meaningful experience for everyone involved. With the addition of a kids race, local vendors, and sponsors from across the area, it has become more than just a 5K. It is a full community celebration that brings people together.

Participants can still expect the traditions they look forward to, including a free t shirt and a goodie bag. It is our way of saying thank you for continuing to be part of something so special year after year.

One thing that will never change is the heart behind this race. Every dollar raised goes to United Way of Orange County, just like it has every single year we have hosted it. This is not just about crossing a finish line. It is about showing up for our community and making a real difference for the people who live here.

Team Granger believes deeply in this event and the cause it supports. It is a tradition, it is a way to give back, and it is something we are incredibly proud to continue growing.

The Orange Texas Run Club is bringing even more excitement to this year’s Dean Granger Memorial 5K with cash prizes awarded to the top male and female finishers.

The Dean Granger Memorial 5K began in 2014 with a simple but meaningful goal. Dean Granger, alongside a former service manager who was an avid runner, wanted to create something that would give back in a lasting way. Both Dean and Al Granger cared deeply about United Way and the impact it has on the local community, so they set out to build an event where 100% of the proceeds would go directly to supporting that mission. From the very beginning, this race has never been about profit. It has always been about people. United Way of Orange County, Texas helps fund essential programs that support education, financial stability, and health services for local families, ensuring that resources reach those who need them most.

Over the years, the race has grown into a community tradition, bringing people together for a cause that truly matters. It has been held for over a decade, only pausing during unavoidable times like Hurricane Harvey and the COVID pandemic, but each time it has come back stronger with the same purpose at its core. Following Dean Granger’s passing, the race was renamed in his memory to honor the legacy he helped create, and that legacy continues to live on through every participant and every dollar raised. This is a race we have proudly hosted for many years, and every single year it continues to grow because of the people who show up and support it. 

This year, we are partnering with the City of Orange for the Pumpkin Run as part of Orangetober, and we are so excited about what that means for the future of this event. With this partnership, this year’s race will be bigger, better, and more impactful than ever before. Be sure to mark your calendars for October 3rd. And of course, the traditions you love are here to stay, including a free t-shirt and a goodie bag for every participant as a thank you for being part of something so special. What will never change is the heart behind this race. Every dollar raised continues to go directly to United Way of Orange County, making a real difference right here at home. This is more than a race. It is a tradition, a tribute, and a powerful way to support the community. When you sign up, you are not just running a 5K. You are running for something that truly matters.

New for 2026, the Kids' Run is designed especially for children ages 10 and under, giving them their own chance to be part of race day in a fun and welcoming environment. This shorter, kid-friendly route is perfect for all activity levels and focuses on participation, movement, and enjoying the experience.

The Kids’ Run will take place from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM on race morning, just before the start of the 5K. All participants will run at the same event location, allowing families to easily take part in both races.

Registration is free for all kids.
Children who are registered by September 8, 2026 will also receive a free event T-shirt.

This is a great opportunity for kids to get active, be part of the community, and enjoy race day alongside friends and family.
