About Dust Bowl 100 presented by Zipp
This is Indiana: Farm fields stretching to the horizon, dotted with silhouettes of barns and intersected by miles of lightly traveled gravel roads. Century-old covered bridges crossing serene streams. Beautiful wooded oases offering shelter from the July sun. Hills (yes, Hills!) that will wake the legs and burn the lungs (but not for too long, because remember, this is Indiana). And a handful of small towns where you’ll be greeted by a wave and a smile as you pass through.
The Dust Bowl 100 presented by Zipp is meant to celebrate all this. Three distances are available (100 miles, 100K, and 44 miles), so whether you're a seasoned cyclist seeking a new and compelling challenge or an adventurous spirit eager to explore Indiana’s backroads on two wheels, we invite you to be a part of this journey with us.
Oh, and about the Dust Bowl name? Let’s just say it can be pretty dry around these parts in late summer. But it could also be rainy, or damp, or chilly, or absolutely beautiful. Remember, this is Indiana!
2026 is year #6 of Indiana’s Premier Gravel Race! The 2025 race sold out in 2 days, so sign up now to ensure you can Get Dusty with us this July!

Partner with the DB100
The relationships that develop between riders are one of the most special things about the gravel community. For us, it is just as important to build those same types of relationships with the partners that help make the Dust Bowl 100 successful. We work with our partners to create unique activations, relevant cross-promotion and marketing, and meaningful connections with our participants.
While we do have general sponsorship-level information that we can provide, we prefer to approach sponsorship discussions with a blank slate so that unique plans can be developed that benefit both parties.

Routes
We take pride in making the Dust Bowl 100 an event that is truly achievable for participants of all experience levels and skill sets. Our terrain is welcoming and our routes can be described as flat to rolling. Our gravel is manicured and hardpacked (at least by Indiana standards, and as long as it hasn't been recently graded!). And while the July weather can increase the toughness factor of the event, we offer ample SAG stops to ensure you have the hydration and fuel to keep you going (spaced approximately every 20 miles).
So the real challenge becomes one between you and yourself. How hard can you push? How quickly can you finish? What PR can you smash? What memories will you make? Which route will you choose?

USA Cycling Junior Gravel National Series

We are thrilled to announce the Dust Bowl 100 presented by Zipp is one of ten events on the 2026 USA Cycling Junior Gravel National Series calendar! The DB100 joins legendary events such as Unbound Gravel, Sea Otter Classic, and SBT GRVL in the series, which is aimed to identify and develop the next generation of elite cycling talent in the United States!

What is the USA Cycling Junior Gravel National Series?
The Junior Gravel National Series returns for an exciting 2026 season, providing the nation’s top junior riders (ages 15–18) with a premier platform to compete, earn points, and gain exposure to national-level development opportunities. This series is designed to reward performance, consistency, and competitive depth across a diverse and challenging national calendar.
The 2026 Junior Gravel Series will consist of 10 events, combining established cornerstone
races with new additions that expand geographic reach and competitive opportunity.
The series utilizes a cumulative points system across all 10 events; riders must compete in a minimum of 3 races to be included in the official Overall Series Standing, and the Overall Series Champion is determined by total accumulated points across the season.
Any junior rider (15–16 or 17–18 categories) who wins an individual series race will receive free entry into the 2026 USA Cycling Gravel National Championship.
Additionally, the 17–18 Overall Series Champion will receive an automatic invite to the USA Cycling Talent ID Camp in October 2026. Riders in the 15–16 category will not receive an automatic invite, but will be evaluated for selection based on performance throughout the season.
What does this mean for the Dust Bowl junior categories?
First, our primary goal is and always has been to be an event focused on providing the best possible participant experience for ALL cyclists. The Dust Bowl has always been a popular first-time gravel event for many Junior riders, and will continue to be so for riders of all ability levels and experience. We want all juniors participating with us, even if they have no interest or intention of "racing" or participating in the USAC Junior Gravel National Series. Joining the series simply allows us to reach a larger audience and give even more juniors a change to ride and race.
The Dust Bowl 100 mile distance will be the official 17-18 age group race for the USAC Junior Gravel National Series. The 100K distance will be the official 15-16 age group race.
All Dust Bowl Junior categories will now be split into 3 age groups for podium and scoring purposes (but USAC series points will only be awarded in those age groups/distances noted above):
• 17-18 years old
• 15-16 years old
• 14 & under
USAC guidelines stipulate that a rider's racing age is determined by their age on December 31, 2026. Therefore, ALL Dust Bowl categories/age groups will now be determined by that same guideline (was previously determined by age on race day).
Juniors do not need a USA Cycling License to participate in the Dust Bowl. However, riders looking to be eligible for inclusion in the Overall Junior Gravel Series Standings must hold a valid annual license for the 2026 season. 2026 USAC licenses can be purchased here for $20: https://usacycling.org/member
Junior Registration is reopened - no waitlists!
While the 2026 Dust Bowl 100 presented by Zipp officially sold out last week, we are reopening registration for all Junior categories and will no longer have a cap for those categories! We already have a record number of Juniors registered for 2026, but are excited to increase those numbers even more!
• Juniors can register at dustbowl100.com through July 17th
• As always, the registration fee for all Juniors is discounted to just $50!
• NOTE: Junior entries can only be transferred to another junior category, and cannot be transferred to any other age groups/categories. So non-juniors, no trying to get around the waitlists😂.

Volunteer Perks
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2026 Dust Bowl 100 gravel race, presented by Zipp! The race will take place in Eminence, Indiana, on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
As we hit our goal of 1,400 participants in 2026, we'll need a strong contingent of volunteers to make sure the event is fully supported and goes off smoothly! We want to continue to make progress building the Dust Bowl 100 into the premier gravel race in the Midwest, and that can only be accomplished with the help of a great volunteer staff!
All Dust Bowl 100 volunteers will receive:
- A Dust Bowl 100 event t-shirt and other event swag
- Lunch from Smokin' J's BBQ
- Frigid Frog Shaved Ice
- Free Parking
- Free On-Site Camping
- Race participants that volunteer will receive a partial refund of their race entry fee based on the number of volunteer hours provided.
- Volunteers will be given early access to 2027 Dust Bowl 100 registration, so if you don't get into the race this year volunteering is a great way to guarantee a 2027 entry!
More detailed information will be sent closer to the event, and we'll have a virtual volunteer meeting the week of the race. We are also happy to provide letters of proof of volunteer hours served.
Thank you for your help in making the Dust Bowl 100 a memorable experience for the racers!
WAITLIST
If you weren't able to secure your spot yet, waitlists are now available. There will certainly be some registration turnover as we get closer to race day, so if you didn't get a spot jump on a waitlist now for your best chance to still get into the race.
NOTE: registration is still OPEN for all Juniors (18 & Under) and for the Friday Night Kids Race (12 & Under)! The Dust Bowl is thrilled to be on the USA Cycling Junior Gravel National Series calendar, and to ensure all juniors have an opportunity to participate we have removed the cap for junior entries for 2026!
Click the link below for the waitlist you want to join:
- 100 MILE:
- 100K:
- 44 MILE:
You will not be charged anything to join a waitlist; if selected, you will be notified via email and have 2 days to complete your registration (at which point you will then be moved into the event/charged).
In general, riders will be moved off the waitlist and into the event using the first in, first out principle (first person on the combined waitlist will be the first one moved into the event if a spot opens, regardless of category/distance). That said, the promoter reserves the right to give priority to those on the waitlist in underrepresented categories.
Registration Process
We're increasing our total participant count from 1,200 riders in 2025 to 1,400 riders in 2026 to allow even more of you to join us! Here are the registration process specifics:
- Registration for ALL distances and categories will open at 8:00am EST on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
- NOTE: there will be "priority" registration available earlier for 2025 volunteers, deferrals, and race winners - if you are in one of those categories, please keep an eye on your email in December.
- Once we hit 1,400 registrations in total (across all categories/distances), open registration will close and waitlist registration will become available.
- NOTE: it may take a couple of hours for waitlists to populate; if the event is sold out and you don't see a waitlist option, please check back in a couple of hours.
- You will not be charged anything to join a waitlist; you will only be charged if/when you are moved into the event.
- In general, riders will be moved off the waitlist and into the event using the first in, first out principle (first person on the combined waitlist will be the first one moved into the event if a spot opens, regardless of category/distance). That said, the promoter reserves the right to give priority to those on the waitlist in underrepresented categories.
- If you deferred your 2025 entry to the 2026 event, we’ll be sending a separate email with information on how to roll that registration into the 2026 event before general registration opens.
