About The Northern Outer Banks Salt & Sound Run/Walk
Join us for the Salt and Sound 10k, 5k and 1-mile Fun-Run, at the Currituck County Rural Center on Saturday, September 19th. Experience the area's waterfowl, wetland and the neighboring horses.
This unique race will bring you along water thoroughfares, on boardwalks and straightaways to the edge of the Currituck Sound.
The courses are scenic but not the fastest because you will be on multiple surfaces.
Each event will be well marked with chip timing, water stations and the parks permanent restrooms. Best of all, the rear race marshals will be on horseback! They are there to help you hoof it!
Welcome runners and walkers! We recommend that strollers and dogs (leash required) start at the back.
Stay after the race for pancake breakfast. Thank you to our key sponsors Hoffer Flow Controls, Pro1 Pest Control and Towne Bank for making this event possible and your continued support!

Mission and Purpose

Kids First Inc. Child Advocacy Center’s mission is to provide Help, Healing, and Hope to children in northeastern North Carolina who have been sexually or physically abused or neglected.
The organization’s work is rooted in the belief that most children they see (up to 250 a year) have experienced sexual abuse, which is an epidemic affecting 1 in 11 children before age 18. Without intervention, many grow up with lasting emotional, mental, or behavioral challenges, or continue to suffer in silence.

Currituck 4-H Backpacks for Kids discreetly provides nutritious, child-friendly, easy-to-prepare food to chronically hungry children during the school year.
This program helps elementary school children in Currituck County by:
