Charity Partners
Elm Street Athletic Festival proudly supports two trusted partners making a real difference in the brain cancer community:
Brain Tumor Network provides free, one-on-one guidance to brain tumor patients and caregivers. Their navigators help families understand treatment options, find expert care, and feel less alone during an overwhelming time.
The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist MIND Alliance Fund supports innovative brain cancer research in North Carolina, focused on developing safer, more effective treatments that can better reach the brain.
Our Promise
100% of fundraising dollars will go to the Brain Tumor Network and Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health’s MIND Alliance Fund. And a portion of the event proceeds will go toward Brain Tumor Network and Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health’s MIND Alliance Fund. By participating in the festival, whether you’re running the 10 miles, tackling the 5K, or joining the Survivors, Healers, and Heroes Walk, you’re contributing to causes that truly make a difference.
But that’s not all—this year, we’re raising the bar with a fundraising initiative that gives you the chance to amplify your impact! You can create a personal or team fundraising page to support the Brain Tumor Network and Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health’s MIND Alliance Fund directly. Together, we can achieve more than ever before. Every dollar raised brings us closer to making a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Let’s make every mile meaningful. Thank you for joining us in supporting these incredible organizations.

Why Runners Love Elm Street
See why runners keep coming back to the Elm Street Athletic Festival

This is an ugly disease and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. We have had 2 people in our family affected by this.
My mom is almost a 5 year survivor! She’s a walking miracle. ❤️ (orange shirt in the pic)
My father-in-law has been battling for over a year and he is still fighting and we’re hoping for that miracle. But not everyone gets miracles. That’s why this event is so important! Awareness brings support and support opens the doors for new innovative ways to treat Glioblastoma.
-Sarah Parham Roethlinger
My mom, Donna, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in June 2021, so by the time the Elm Street Run took place in May 2022, she had been battling brain cancer for nearly a year. By that time, she had lost the ability to walk unassisted. Her love of walking was one of my moms’ defining characteristics prior to brain cancer. She was an avid walker and it was something that brought her such joy in life! While she was unable to walk on her own at the event, she was able to take part in the 1 mile survivor race in a wheelchair, pushed by her adoring husband and surrounded by her “beautiful village of family and friends,” as she lovingly called them. The energy, love, community, and support that day was palpable.
I am forever grateful that she was able to attend the inaugural Elm Street Run before her passing just a few months later in July, and that she raised thousands of dollars to support a wonderful organization that makes a substantial impact in the brain tumor community. The smile on her face on race day was the biggest we’d seen in months, and the experience that day is something I will never forget."
- Joslin Owens
Elm Street Athletic Festival is by far one of our favorite races! As a family run club we love how this race is geared to all ages, all levels, and supports an incredible cause. It’s a beautiful course in the heart of downtown Greensboro. There is something for everyone at this race. Tons of fun for everyone. It’s an absolute highlight in our racing season!
- Katie Page, Gate City Athletics Director
