About EmergeOrtho 5K
The EmergeOrtho 5K is the end of the season celebration race for Girls on the Run, Heart & Sole, and STRIDE participants. Come join boys and girls, grades 3rd-8th, as they celebrate their accomplishments of the season! A fun and festive atmosphere, EmergeOrtho 5K celebrates friends, family and wellness! Public runners are welcome as this race provides much needed scholarships for future Girls on the Run and STRIDE participants.
Girls on the Run & STRIDE
Girls on the Run and STRIDE is an innovative health education and wellness program combining the power of running with life-changing self esteem and character-enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle in young boys and girls.
Thank you to our Title Sponsor, EmergeOrtho for over 15 years of support for this race and these programs! Over 40% of our Girls on the Run & STRIDE participants utilize financial assistance and we couldn't support those families without the help of our sponsors.

This race benefits our GOTR & STRIDE programs at the YMCA. GOTR & STRIDE use dynamic lessons to instill valuable life skills and inspire all participants to build confidence, kindness and improve their decision making skills Overall, these programs connect the importance between physical and emotional health. All proceeds and sponsorships go towards helping provide much needed scholarships to GOTR & STRIDE participants.

Race Awards & Swag
ALL Girls on the Run/STRIDE and Heart and Sole Student participants will receive a program shirt, but you may add a race T-shirt or Tank during your own registration. All other registrants will pick between a tank or t-shirt during registration.


All participants receive a finisher medal!

Professional race production by the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina and timing by Full Send Racing ensures a fun, safe, and accurate 5k race experience!
Race Course & Parking Maps
The Course will start and finish at the UNCW Track. Parking is available adjacent to the track at the Hamilton Drive Lot.



Race Weekend Schedule
PRE RACE - PACKET PICK UP
For general runners, running buddies and Girls on the Run/STRIDE coaches. For a quick and easy packet pick up experience, please know your bib number when you arrive.
Packet pick up location: EmergeOrtho, 3787 Shipyard Blvd
Thursday, May 15th: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Friday, May 16th: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
*You may have friends and family pick up for you. If you have a group of 10 or more participants please email Renee@racefullsend before noon on Thursday.
RACE DAY - PACKET PICK UP
Last chance for packet pick up at Race Village
Saturday, May 17th: 7:00am - 8:00 am
General runners pick up packets at the blue Full Send Racing tent
*GOTR/STRIDE program participants (students only)- when you arrive at the track please report directly to the GOTR/STRIDE Celebration Zone where you will find your school. Your coach will have your race bib available for you to pick up. All Run Buddies should go to Packet Pickup (if you did not pick up on Thursday or Friday) and then meet your student in the Celebration Zone.

The EmergeOrtho 5K is Fun for Kids of ALL ages!

EmergeOrtho 5K and YMCA Training Program
Walking and Running Programs
Interested in walking, jogging, or running but don’t know where to start? The Y’s Walk to Jog (W2J) and Jog to Run (J2R) programs are the perfect solution for you! These 8-week introductory program eases you into running gradually. Throughout the training the two groups will meet twice a week to build endurance and confidence for each participant to complete a 3.1 mile race! Our skilled and motivating coaches will give you the skills and self-assurance to introduce you to a lifetime of running!
W2J and J2R is held every fall and spring. Both programs are open to all non-member and members of the YMCA of Southeastern NC with all proceeds going to cover race fees and coaching programs.
