About Escape from Turkey Mountain
One of Tulsa's oldest Trail races - dating way back to 2004! A Labor Day tradition. Two race distances to choose from - a challenging 5 mile course or the shorter and less technical 2 mile course. Both races start and finish at the lower parking lot of Turkey Mountain.
All entrants will receive a race t-shirt as well as a finisher medal for each race.
Escape is the THIRD (and final) race in our annual year long series of trail races at Turkey Mountain - called the "Turkey Triple." Other races in the series include Trail Madness (March) and the Trail Nut 5k and 1 mile races (June). Those in the series receive an additional special medal for each race. Registration for the series will close prior to the first race in March. Sign up for the series and keep yourself motivated to train and trail race all year long! To sign up for the series select "bundle" when you begin the registration process for this race.
One of northeastern Oklahoma’s unique recreational treasures, the Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness encompasses over 300 acres of rugged park land located only a few miles from Tulsa’s vibrant downtown. Participants will be surrounded by a thick canopy of trees including native Post and Blackjack Oak, Hickory, Redbud and other species. This area of River Parks stretches north-south from I-44 to 71st Street, and from Elwood Avenue, east to the Arkansas River. The highest point on Turkey Mountain lies within the park’s boundaries, rising 300 feet above the river.

Q: How do I know if I signed up for the race?
A: Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events or if you select My Registered Races (under My Upcoming Events) it will also be listed here.
Q: Can I transfer my race registration to another race?
A: Yes, when there are greater than 30 days until race date. Follow these steps:
Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on Manage Registration. Click on Transfer to Another Race in the bottom section of the page.
Q: Can I receive a refund for this race?
A: Yes, when there are greater than 30 days until race date. Processing fees cannot be refunded. Follow these steps:
Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on Manage Registration. Click on Request Refund in the bottom section of the page.
Q: Are there any discounts for race registration fees?
A: Unless listed on our social media or announced through the Race Page – registration fees are as posted.
Q: Can I exchange my race shirt for a different size before the race?
A: Through packet pick-up you can change your shirt size following these steps: Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on manage. Scroll to bottom and select Change Giveaway Option. NOTE: If a shirt size is sold out, you will not be able to switch to the sold out size. In this instance, you will need to take the shirt size for which you registered. On race day, after the race has started, if we have a shirt in the size you want still available, you can swap at that time.
Q: Can I do the race virtual even though it’s an in-person race?
A: No we do not have a virtual option for this race.
Q: Can I register for the race in store instead of online?
A: All registrations, even race day registrations, are done on computers. Our Fleet Feet stores have computers that you can utilize to register. If you need assistance registering please feel free to come inside and we can help you out.
Q: Can I pick up my bib and shirt at the race?
A: Yes! If you are unable to pick up your packet in store - it will be at the race registration table prior to the start of the race.
Q: Can I register on race day?
A: If there are available spots on race day - This event often sells out. I wouldn't chance it!
Q: Where do I park for the race?
A: Check the race RunSignUp page for race specific parking information under Race Info.
Q: Where do I find a map of the race route?
A: On the race page, you will find a map of the route under the ‘Race Info’ tab.
Q: What happens if there’s bad weather on race day?
A: Weather conditions will be monitored on race day. In the case of severe weather, the start times of the races may be delayed. Rain does not cancel race. In the extreme case the weather is severe enough to cancel the race, there will be no makeup date.
Q: Will water be provided for participants?
A: Yes! Water will be provided on the route for the 5K and at the finish for all participants.
Q: Where do I find the race results?
A: At the top of the race page you will see the ‘Results’ tab. Select the correct distance and type in your bib number or name to see results.

Packet Pick-Up
Packet Pickup In-Store
Usually the Friday-Sunday before the Monday race at area Fleet Feet locations. An email will be sent to all participants when packets are ready for pick up.
Race Day Packet Pickup
Begins at 6:45 AM at the Lower Parking Lot at Turkey Mountain (off Elwood Ave.)
Parking
See the attached map for the best locations to park. Arrive early! Parking is tight and if you arrive late you will likely have to walk to get to the start line from your parking area.
Race Shirt and Finisher Medal
All participants will receive a unisex t-shirt and finisher medal. Images will be added when design is complete.
Participants in the Turkey Triple race series will receive the escape piece to complete their Turkey Triple collection (2024 Triangle pictured below). 2026 collection will be posted when design is complete.

Time Limit
All participants in either the 2 mile or 5 mile events must complete the course in less than 2 hours. For the 5 mile event this is a 24 min/mile pace. The finish line will be torn down 2 hours from the start of the race and the course clean up crew will pick up course markings accordingly.
Where can I attach my bib?
Bibs need to be worn on the FRONT of your body with the number visible!
Do not bend the timing tag on the back on your bib. If it is broken, the timing device will not read your bib.
Sometimes things happen and the device does not read your bib. That is why it is important your number be visible on the front of your body! Our timing crew has backup procedures that include writing down bib numbers as participants cross the finish line so times can still be recorded and accurate. If your bib is not visible on the front of your body they can't write down your bib as you cross the finish line.

NOTE: No one will be allowed to start either race more than 5 minutes after the gun goes off. No exceptions!
Race will begin in three waves:
WAVE START: We will use a three wave start for the race to ease the congestion on the trails. You will self-select into your wave according to these anticipated race paces (keep in mind your “trail” pace will be slower than your normal “road” pace if you are new to trail running)
Wave 1: expected pace faster than 11:30 per mile
Wave 2: expected pace between 11:30 per mile and 14:00 per mile
Wave 3: expected pace slower than 14:00 per mile
