Fair on the Square Half Marathon & 5K

The Fair on the Square Half Marathon & 5K Presented by Hendricks Regional Health is located on the beautiful Courthouse Square in Danville. Our event kicks off the annual Fair on the Square Fall Festival allowing runners to enjoy the festivities and festival offering from traditional small-town vendors.  Crafts, foods, apparel and one-of-a-kind offerings will make you smile.  The Courthouse Square is so unique that Hollywood filmed the Fall Festival for the movie Mayberry the week prior to our event in 2019. Join us; it is worth the trip.

Saturday - Race Day! (Sept. 12)

6:30 - 8:00 AM Packet Pickup and Race Day Registration (NOTE: Race day pickup is located by the start/finish locations just past the Library 145 S Indiana St
8:00 AM = Half Marathon Start 
8:15 AM = 5K
9:30 AM = 5K Awards – located at the Photo Backdrop next to the Hendricks Regional Health Tent
10:30 AM = Half Marathon Awards  - same location as above

Q: I cannot come, what are my options?  Can I get a refund?
A:  Sorry there are no refunds for any reason.  We offer 4 different options to choose from.
1) You may switch to virtual and have your swag mailed for $15. 
2) You may pick up your packet at the early packet pickup or have a friend pick up your swag on race day (must request finisher's medal if you want to do virtually at another time).
3) You may sell/give away your entry to a family/friend at no additional cost.
4) Defer your entry to 2026 for $20

Q:  Are there water stops on the 5K and Half Marathon course?
A:  Yes, about the 1/2 way point for the 5k. Half Marathon will be every 2 miles. We also have some stops with full water bottles available. You are welcome to carry a full bottle of water with you until the next water stop. Must dispose all bottles in trash cans or recycle bins.
 
Q:  Will the race still happen if it is raining or storming?
A:  Yes!!!  We will only delay for lightning or tornado.
 
Q:  Can my kids register for the 5K or Half Marathon race?
A:  Yes, they sure can!  
 
Q:  Is the 5K or Half Marathon course stroller-friendly?   May I push a stroller? 
A:  Yes – please be courteous of runners in a hurry.  
 
Q:  Is the 5K or Half Marathon dog-friendly?  Can I bring my dog? 
A:  Yes – and no charge:)  you know the rules… clean up. Please be respectful of other runners.

A:  Plenty of parking close by downtown Danville, IN!  Click HERE
 

Q:  Hotels?
A:  The closest in Danville is a Bed & Breakfast.. The Marmalade Sky
 
Q:  Can I Walk?
A:  Yes.  The 5K has no time restriction.  The Half Marathon does. Time limit is 3 1/2 hours. If you fall behind the trail vehicle, you may catch a ride.  Otherwise, you are totally on your own.  Traffic cones will be picked up.  Volunteers will not be on the course once the trail vehicle arrives at their areas.

Q:  Are there 5K Awards? 
A: Yes, Top 3 Male/Female Overall Winners.  Top 3 Male/Female in each Age Group. Overall winners and 1st in age group will receive fun special overall and age group medal.  2nd and 3rd place will receive a special age group medal.

Q:  Will the age group prizes be mailed?
A:  No, all prizes must be picked up during Awards Announcement. Be sure to check results before you leave. If you did not pick up your prize there will be a $10 fee to be mailed to you.
