For Kids' Sake International Superhero 5K

The 13th For Kids' Sake International Superhero 5K is back! This year's Superhero 5K will be a hybrid race - you can join us at the starting line on Saturday, September 20, at 9am at Turley Park (1010 N. Glenview Dr, Carbondale, IL) or run/walk anywhere in the universe! 

Superheroes save lives, which is exactly what you do when you participate in this race. All proceeds support, educate, and empower children, orphans, students, and families with the basic necessities of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare and education in Bangladesh, The Gambia, and Southern Illinois. Dieses Jahr können wir am internationalen “For Kids’ Sake Superhero 5K” teilnehmen! Er findet am Samstag, den. September vor Ort in Carbondale, IL, USA statt. Als virtuelle Teilnehmer*innen können wir jedoch auch von überall auf der Welt mitmachen.

Superheld*innen retten Leben, und genau das tust du, wenn du an diesem Lauf teilnimmst. Alle Einnahmen kommen unseren Waisen- und Schulkindern in Bangladesch zugute. Deine Anmeldegebühr von 10 Euro reicht, um 15 Kinder mit einer vollwertigen Mahlzeit zu versorgen. Seid wahre Superheld*innen und sammelt Spenden für die Kinder entweder bar, oder per Überweisung auf das Konto “Den Kindern zuliebe” in Deutschland, oder über das US Portal per Kredit Karte.

WIE ES FUNKTIONIERT

Schritt 1. Registrieren
Wähle den Virtual FKS Superhero 5K aus auf der Homepage, um virtuell teilzunehmen, egal wo du lebst (über “Den Kindern zuliebe“ Deutschland bekommst du einen Code, damit du nicht online zahlen brauchst) oder klicke hier oder registriere hier.

Schritt 2. Fundraise
Sammle Spenden für die Kinder hier.

Schritt 3. Laufen oder gehen
Lauf oder geh die 5K-Distanz überall in der Galaxie und protokolliere deine Ergebnisse jederzeit online zwischen dem 17. September und 24. September 2021. Vergleiche deine Rennergebnisse mit allen anderen virtuellen Teilnehmer*innen.

Aus logistischen Gründen können die virtuellen Teilnehmer*innen aus Europa leider keine Preise bekommen.

SPENDEN
Seid echte Superheld*innen, indem ihr für die Kinder spendet und/oder Geld sammelt. Das Erstellen einer Spendenseite dauert nur wenige Minuten und gibt euch die Möglichkeit, Leben in Bangladesch zu retten. Hier anmelden!  Alle gesammelten Gelder werden für die Grundbedürfnisse der Kinder in Bangladesch verwendet: für gesunde Mahlzeiten, sauberes Wasser, Unterkunft, Kleidung, Bildung und medizinische Versorgung. 

Virtuelle Registrierung: Du kannst überall in dieser Galaxie laufen! Lauf durch deine Nachbarschaft, auf einem Laufband, am Strand…

Step 1. Register
In-Person: Select the "For Kids' Sake International Superhero 5K" to attend the in-person event. Pick up your t-shirt on Friday, Sep. 19 from 5pm-6pm at Turley Park (1010 N. Glenview Dr., Carbondale, IL) or on the day of the race, Sep. 20, at Turley Park starting at 8am.
Virtual: Select the Virtual FKS Superhero 5K to participate virtually, no matter where you live. T-shirts can be shipped to your door.

Step 3. Run or Walk
In-Person: Join other superheroes at 9am on Saturday, Sep. 20, at Turley Park to run our certified 5K Route with chip timing.
Virtual: Run/walk the 5K distance anywhere in the galaxy and log your results online by Saturday, Sep. 20. Compare your race results with all other virtual participants. 

Step 4. Share a picture of your run to Facebook or Instagram tagging @forkidssakeintl

In-Person: Compete for fastest race time within 5 year-age categories and for the fastest team
We will announce all winners at the in-person Awards Ceremony, September 20 at Turley Park. Following the award ceremony, winners will be contacted and results posted online.

Local Superheroes: Registration opens at 8am on Saturday, September 20th, at the Turley Park Pavilion, 1010 N. Glenview Dr, Carbondale, IL 62901. We'll take off from the starting line at 9am and the Award Ceremony will follow.

Virtual Registrants: You can run/walk anywhere in the galaxy! Run through your neighborhood, on a treadmill, on the beach, or feel free to use the route outlined below to guarantee you're running the 5K distance. Track your time and log your results online by September 20th, 2025.
