Galveston Marathon & Half Marathon

Join us for the 2027 Galveston Marathon Weekend, where runners, walkers, and adaptive athletes of all levels can challenge themselves along the stunning Gulf Coast. Set against the backdrop of Galveston’s scenic waterfront, this event features a Boston-Qualifying Marathon course, Half Marathon, and an inclusive 5K for all participants.
The Marathon & Half Marathon course takes you through Beach Town and through East Beach, stretching along the iconic Galveston Seawall, offering breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico. This flat, fast course provides the perfect opportunity to chase a personal best or secure your spot at the Boston Marathon—ideal for both seasoned marathoners and those aiming for a new challenge.
At the Galveston Marathon Weekend, we are proud to host wheelchair, handcycle, and other adaptive athlete-friendly events. We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for athletes of all abilities, and our courses are designed to be accessible to everyone.

Registration includes a commemorative technical shirt (long sleeve for Full and Half Marathon; short sleeve for 5K), finisher medal for all events, food, and friends at the post race party.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be available every 2 miles for the full and half marathon and at the 5K turnaround point. Fluids will include water and electrolytes. Runners are encouraged to wear or carry bottles or fluid belts if extra water is needed. Nutrition will not be provided at aid stations.

Course Time Limit

There will be a 6 hour time limit on the Marathon and no time limit on the Half Marathon. You must begin the second loop of the marathon at 3 hours race time. 

6:00 AM: Race Day Packet Pickup and Onsite Registration opens
7:15 AM: Wheel Chair and Hand Cycle Marathon & Half Marathon Start
7:30 AM: Marathon and Half Marathon Start
8:00 AM: 5K Start
9:00 AM: 5K Awards
10:30 AM: Half Marathon Awards
11:30 AM: Marathon Awards

What is the time cut off?
Cut off for the Marathon is 6 hours. If you are not through the 13.1 Mile Split at the 3 hour mark, you will be cut off.
Is the route on the beach/sand?
No, all courses are on pavement
Do you offer any discounts for military or veterans?
Discount code is offered during registration sign up.
Can I pick up a friend's packet?
Yes, you can pick up packets for others as long as you are able to confirm their race and personal information.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are allowed in all outside areas and to run with owners, please keep clear of other runners and line up in the back of the starting chute. Please clean up after animals.
Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are allowed, please be aware of your surroundings as the seawall does not have any protection from drop offs.
