George Mason 5K and Fun Run

Join us for the annual George Mason 5K and Fun Run! This year, all proceeds from the event will benefit the George Mason University Student Emergency Assistance Fund, which helps provide support for students facing a variety of unexpected financial challenges

If you would like to make an additional contribution, tax-deductible donations can be made through the GMU Foundation. Your generosity helps us create a more inclusive and supportive campus community.

Event Fees and Benefits

• 5K Run-Walk: $40 ($20 benefit)

• Kids Fun Run: $20 ($20 benefit)

The George Mason 5K and Fun Run is made possible through the generosity of our sponsors. This year’s event supports the George Mason University Disability Services Fund, providing scholarships, programs, and resources for students with disabilities.

What is Exercise Is Medicine On Campus?

Exercise is Medicine® On Campus (EIM-OC) calls upon universities and colleges to promote physical activity as a vital sign of health. EIM-OC encourages faculty, staff and students to work together toward improving the health and well-being of the campus community by:

• Making movement a part of the daily campus culture
• Assessing physical activity at every student health visit
• Providing students with the tools necessary to strengthen healthy physical activity habits that can last a lifetime
• Connecting university health care providers with university health fitness specialists to provide a referral system for exercise prescription.

October is designated as Exercise Is Medicine – On Campus Month

The organization and participation in the Mason Virtual 5k will act as a celebratory event of this initiative on the Mason Campus.

EIM-OC at Mason

EIM On Campus (EIM-OC) launched its recognition program in 2014, honoring campuses for their participation and engagement in EIM. Schools earn gold, silver or bronze status based on their activities. Recognition provides an opportunity for campuses to enhance their image as a healthy academic environment and emphasize their commitment to create a culture of wellness.
