Ghost 5k & Scarecrow Sprint Fun Run

Halloween WILL be in the air, and we will be celebrating the 16th running of the Ghost 5k running events! 

We invite you to join in the fun of Halloween with our 5k and Scarecrow Sprint Fun Run,

Join us Saturday, Oct. 25 at 4 PM from Dynasty Brewing Company, Ashburn VA (21140 Ashburn Crossing Dr. Ashburn, VA) for course Halloween spookiness, costume contest, and more! Our Kids' Scarecrow Sprint Fun Run will start at 3 PM before the 5k race.

This experience will center on the “spooktacular” theme of Halloween and incorporate a costume contest, long sleeve tech shirts, and glow in the dark medal presented at the finish line!

​Runners are encouraged to run in costume and be a part of our costume contest! 

All participants will receive Halloween candy, commemorative long sleeve tech t-shirt,  a glow in the dark finishers' medal presented at the finish line!

Scarecrow Sprint will begin BEFORE the race at 3 PM!

Runners are encouraged to run in costume and be a part of our costume contest for a chance to claim bragging rights and win prizes! There will be on course Halloween spookiness, costume contest, and more!

Be it your first 5k ever, or your first 5k in a while, this 8 week 5k training program will assist you in getting to the start and finish line!

Awards will be given to the overall male, overall female, second place overall male, second place overall female and the top two male and female runners in the following age groups.

Create a team!
Awards to the fastest team! A team will consist of at least four runners registered as being a part of the same team and have at least one male and one female runner. 

This event shines a spotlight on healthy activities, with a focus on raising funds for a youth charity partner at a local high school. 

The Ghost 5k's mission is to encourage our community to live a healthy life through movement! Halloween kicks of the Holiday Season, and we want to remind you to live a healthy life by kicking off the Holiday Season with some running or walking fun and take on the goal to be Fit Through the Holidays! 

Plan to join us for race day as a runner/walker, sponsor, volunteer or donation for our youth charity partner at a local high school.

We will be searching for winners for the BEST in the  following categories:

Categories include:

Best Gilbert 
Best Gilbert the Ghost Costume. Costume of one top kid and top adult. We are looking for the best Gilbert the Ghost costume! 

Best Individual
Costume of only one person.  Bragging rights to top kid and top adult 

Best Couple
Costumes with two people participating. Bragging rights to the top couple.

Best Family/Group
Families or groups of four or more (up to six for awards) 
NOTE: you do not really have to be blood family

Best Stroller
Parents get creative with the baby buggy and join in the Baby Stroller division of the costume contest. 

Best Pet/Human Pair
That's right, dress up your best four legged friend in a costume and join the Dog N Human(s) division! (NOTE: dog n human(s) duo or trio human (includes one dog.)

Come dressed to impress, sporting your best running gear, technology, the works!

Must be a participant of Ghost 5k and/or Scarecrow Sprint event to participate.        

The Ghost 5k course will take you through the neighboring streets of Dynasty Brewing Co, Ashburn.

Signage and cones will direct you through the course with some added on course excitement of "spooky" decorations!

Plan to stick around after the race for post race Halloween Party! add on dinner as we enjoy a spectacular Halloween setting! 

Cost of dinner can be added to your online registration. Tickets made available on race day when picking up bib.

Dinner includes, pizza, chips, and a drink.

Scarecrow Sprint Fun Runners will experience a start and finish like non other! 

Each age group will finish at the official finish line and have an official start with "ready, set, go!". As they charge towards the finish, parents and spectators will cheer them along!

Upon crossing the finish line each participant will receive a finishers' medal.

Age group and distances:
- Ages 2 & under will run approximately 25 yards with parents
- Ages 3 & 4 will run approximately 25 yards, parents optional 
- Ages 5 & 6 will run approximately 75 yards
- Ages 7 & 8 will run approximately 125 yards 

All in person fun runners will receive:
-Halloween Themed Start/Finish Line with Fun Run Course
-Commemorative Long Sleeve Glow in the Dark Tech T-Shirt 
-Wooden Scarecrow Sprint Finishers' Medal 
-Halloween Candy
-Opportunity to Participate in Costume Contest and win prize
-Halloween Party at Start & Finish Line

No refunds are available or will be issued.

Pick up you bib only before the race and grab your shirt after the race, or pick up everything before you run.

The Scarecrow Sprint is just that! Sprint distances are recommended for little ghosts and scarecrows ages 8 and under. Sprint distances are designed for each age group.
(2 & under, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8)

Kids are encouraged to run in costume and be a part of our costume contest!

All Scarecrow Sprint participants will receive a goodie bag of Halloween candy, commemorative long sleeve tech glow in the dark t-shirt, as well as a finishers' medal at the finish line. 

The Scarecrow Sprint will start at 3 PM at Dynasty Brewing Co. (21140 Ashburn Crossing Dr., Ashburn, VA 20174)

Age group break down and distance will be as follows:

- Ages 2 & under will run approximately 25 yards with parents
- Ages 3 & 4 will run approximately 25 yards, parents optional 
- Ages 5 & 6 will run approximately 75 yards
- Ages 7 & 8 will run approximately 125 yards 

Choose one of our virtual options of the 5k, 10k and the Not 2 Spooky 4 ME Challenge (5k/10k) and you can run anywhere, anytime, between October 23 and October 31, with your own course spookiness through your own neighborhood. 

This experience will center on the “spooktacular” theme of Halloween and encourage you to complete our spooky scavenger hunt. ​Runners are encouraged to run in costume and be a part of their spooky good times! 

All participants will receive Halloween candy, commemorative long sleeve tech glow in the dark t-shirt, as well as a glow in the dark finishers' medal. 

Your swag will be shipped to you. Cost of shipping is included within your registration price.

Register by October 15 and your race swag will ship before Oct. 23. Registered after October 15 and your swag will ship after Oct. 23.

NOTE: Virtual participants will not be officially time and will not appear in/with the 5k in-person race results. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.

Volunteers are needed to help us out in the following areas. You will be assigned to what interest you the most, however we do ask for some flexibility!

- Hand out runner bibs to participating runners before the race
- Hand out swag/snack bags to runners.
- Direct runners through certain areas of the course.
- Monitor the start/finish line area
