Get your steps in before the feast! Join us for our Annual Giving Thanks 5K!
Grab the people you're thankful for and come on out for a family friendly race on Thanksgiving morning at 8am in Hopkins Park in DeKalb, IL. This fun course is perfect for serious runners, joggers, and even those who would like to take a stroll with family and friends. The Giving Thanks 5K is a great way to kick off your holiday with gratitude!
All proceeds go to local nonprofit, Neighbors' House. Your participation helps provide over 150 DeKalb County students with academic and relational support throughout the year through After School Kids Club, Summer Reading Vacation, and more. Thanks for loving our neighbors!
Registration

Youth Registration
for ages 5-17 - under 5 are free!

*Please note - Strollers welcome - please start at the back of the starting line. No dogs allowed in this race for the safety of all runners. Thank you!
Packet Pickup
There will be pre-race day packet pickup/check-in on Wednesday, November 26th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Terrace Room at Hopkins Park.
Packet Pickup will also be available on race day from 7:00-8:00am in the Terrace Room.
You are permitted to have someone else pick up for you. Please note - t-shirts are only guaranteed for those who register during the early bird period. T-shirts MUST be picked up during the packet pick up times. T-shirts will not be held and other pick up times will not be arranged. Thank you for understanding.
Be sure to stop by our photo booth in the Terrace Room to snap a picture with your running buddies!
Parking
There is limited parking available on either side of the Hopkins Park Pool. There is another parking lot past the playground and bandshell, up by the large park shelter. The most parking spaces will be available across the street, and you may use the underpass walking path to safely cross Sycamore Road.
Dress Like a Turkey Contest
Pull out the hats, socks, tutus, and costumes to dress like a turkey for this festive race! Judges will pick their favorite turkey costume and the winner will receive a pie.
50/50 Raffle
50/50 Raffle Tickets!
We’re excited to offer you a chance to make a difference while also having a shot at winning a fantastic prize! The money raised in the 50/50 raffle will benefit our free after school and summer programs.
Here’s how it works:
- Tickets are just $5.00 each.
- The jackpot is 50% of the total ticket sales!
- The other 50% goes directly to supporting our after-school programs, which provide valuable enrichment opportunities to children in our community.
- Pre-purchase your tickets now, and we'll have them ready for you on race day!
- Tickets will be available for purchase online with your registration until noon on Wednesday, November 26.
- Tickets can be purchased in person at the race room on Wednesday during race check in, or Thursday morning, until 8am - cash preferred!
Winner will be drawn during awards ceremony after the race. Individual does not need to be present to win.
*Last year's winner won almost $400! Thanks for supporting Neighbors' House in this way!
Results & Awards
Results will be available immediately upon finish. Look for the signs with the QR codes to see your results! Stop back in the Terrace Room for bananas, bagels, and water.
Awards ceremony will be in the Hopkins Park Terrace Room at 9:00am. Awards given to top male/female runner include free entry to next year's race and a gift certificate to Dick Pond. Age group male/female winners will be awarded free entry to next year's race.
