Heart and Soul Fun Run and Roll 1K and 5K

See you at Camp Korey for our first annual 1K & 5K Heart and Sole Fun Run & Roll!  

This fun community event will definitely be one filled with a lot of heart and many different types of soles! Whether you are feeling the challenge of a 5K or are more interested in the less serious 1K, ALL are invited to come and enjoy a morning filled with fun, inclusion, and a sprinkle cookie of silliness!  Whether you are doing the 5K or the 1K everyone will be swapping out those timing chips for potato chips and chocolate chips!  See you at the Finish-Line party!  

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out and join the fun!  
(5K = 3.1 miles) and (1K = .62 miles)

Event: Heart and Sole Fun Run & Roll 1K and 5K
Date: Saturday, September 19th 
Location: Camp Korey
5k Check-In: 8:15 a.m.
1K Check-In: 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Waves start rolling out: 10 a.m. 

To celebrate our summer camp theme "Waves of Wonder" we will have 4 creative starting waves!  Sign up for the one that feels right for you!

5K: 10am - Grey Whale Wave- This is the wave for those who, much like the Grey Whale will be travelling the farthest! (5K = 3.1 miles)

1K: 10:15 am - Sailfish Wave- The sailfish is the fastest fish in the ocean at 68 mph!  This wave is for our fastest runners and rollers! 

1K: 10:30 am - Clownfish Wave- This wave is for those in costumes who want to have a bit of fun and show off as they make their way to the finish line!

1K: 10:45 am - Sea STAR Wave- YOU are the star!  Walk, Roll, Stroll, Prance, Skip, Gallop...this wave is for everyone!  However you want to get to the finish line, this wave is for you! 

Finish-line Party! Stick around after the race for a fun finish-line party with a food truck, coffee truck, local community booths to check out, and some choose your own adventure activities! Can you say foam party? Community Art Project? Dance Party? Firehose Shower? Costume Red Carpet Fashion Show? We can and will! 

Every participant will receive a Heart and Sole Fun Run and Roll medal and a post-race goody bag!

COSTUMES are highly encouraged!  Individual Costumes! Group Costumes! Inflatable Costumes! You name it, we want to see it!  No theme, just feeling whatever is in your heart and sole for the day! We will have a costume runway show at the finish line so be ready to fend off the paparazzi!

Pre-registration deadline: July 1, 2026
Pre-registered participants will receive a finisher medal, swag, snacks, and water

Our hope is that everyone will be able to participate in this event independently, but if your runner or roller needs extra support or help to the finish line, we will have dedicated volunteers to pair with anyone with a need!

Camp Korey is more than a camp.
It’s a place where kids with life-altering medical conditions can just be kids, entirely free of charge. We believe that all children should be able to experience both the joys of childhood and the profound, life-changing impact of camp. Every year, thousands of campers and family members gather in a community of people with shared experiences to sing, dance, laugh, grow, and discover their potential in a medically safe and adaptable environment.

Here, campers with 90+ diagnoses can take a true break from being “patients” and rediscover the joy of being a kid.

Don’t want to run or roll with us but still want to support, we have a variety of fundraising side trails you can join in on!  

You live out of town but still want to participate – register as a virtual runner, track and share your run, and you will get a finishers medal to celebrate YOU!

Starting Line and Finish Line Squad: Help at the starting line or the finish line getting all our runners and rollers out on the course, or handing out medals at the finish line

Hype Squad: Much like the NYC marathon we want our runners to feel supported and hyped up along the course!  Hype squad comes out to cheer on our participants along the course spreading that Camp Korey warm fuzzy cheer!  

Transportation Squad: Getting our runners and rollers parked and transported to where they need to go!  5K and 1K will have different starting villages! 

Snacks and Hydration Squad: Taking on the very important task of passing out snacks and water keeping our participants fueled and happy!

Check in Squad: This squad is made up of those awesome volunteers who want to get everyone checked in and pumped up for what is yet to come!

Gopher Squad: Things always come up and need people who GO-FOR it!  This will be helping where needed as needs come up! 

Hospitality Squad: Greeters at the gate, finish line, and throughout the event! 

Finish Line Party Squad: We will be looking for local non-profits to join us and set up a booth to share who they are and what they do and make the finish-line a true party!
