Heath Golf & Yacht Club Turkey Dash

Heath Golf & Yacht Club is putting on our fourth annual fun run on Thanksgiving morning.  Last year we were able to donate $18000.00 to Helping Hands.  All race proceeds will go to this organization who help families going through difficult times.  For more information click on the link below or copy and paste to your web browser.

It will feature a Kid's 1K at 8:00 AM and a 5K at 8:30.  The Kids 1K will be out and back from the Clubhouse, the 5K will circle a loop going east on Governor's Drive, north on Trophy and west back to Clubhouse on Governor's Drive. The 5K race will be a chipped timed race.

Each Kid will receive a medal after finishing the 1K.  There will be overall female and male awards in the 5K, and age group awards: 1-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, and 60-99. Results will be posted at the race site and on RunSignUp, the Kid's 1K will not be timed but the top 3 boys and girls will be acknowledged.

Each registrant will receive a fun T-shirt to commemorate their efforts and helping give back to others on Thanksgiving morning.

There will be a packet pickup Wednesday, November 26th at the clubhouse from 4:00-7:00 PM and also on race day morning from 7:00-7:50 AM.

HEATH GOLF & YACHT CLUB TURKEY DASH RACE INSTRUCTIONS 

Thanks for participating in our third annual Turkey Dash.  All profits will go to Helping Hands. Last year, we were able to give them a check for $5000.00, and this year we anticipate that you will help us donate a check for $10,000.00.  The race is organized by Heath Golf & Yacht Club residents who enjoy giving back to others on a special holiday and providing a family sporting event for our community. Our generous sponsors have covered the cost of the race this year.  We give special thanks to Grand Homes (you will pass many of their houses around mile 2, and to Clementine Bower who donated in memory of her husband, Michael.  Thanks!

Basics: Common Start/Finish on the north side of the clubhouse.

Kids 1K: for ages 2-12 is a short out and back from the common start and finish on the north side of the clubhouse.  It is truly a fun run, untimed, but they get to chase a Turkey and he is great in which to take photos.  This year we will have a bounce house to keep them busy and hopefully give the Turkey a better chance to finish first.  We will award the top 3 boys and girls with a nice memento.

5K: all ages, starts at 8:15 am, goes out Clubhouse Dr, right on Governor’s Blvd, left on Isaiah Ct, left on Governor’s Blvd, left on Trophy Dr, left on Governor’s Blvd, right on Clubhouse Dr to the Start/Finish.  

The course will be coned, stay between the cones and the left-side curb.  Both races will follow the lead golf cart, and the kids will have fun running against our Turkey.  Bathrooms are inside the clubhouse.  The 5K will have a water station along Trophy Drive.

Parking: There are 80 spaces next to the clubhouse.  Once these are full our parking volunteers will direct you to park along Hero Drive and Hallelujah Dr.  Pease do not park on Clubhouse Dr since it is the main road for the race near start and finish. Please be patient with our parking directors and the rest of us as we are all volunteers from the neighborhood.

5K Awards: Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, and three deep for the following age groups: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and up.  There will be some random drawings for everyone courtesy of Racket & Jog.
