HRCA Happy Hour Half K

Looking for something to do with the whole family on Father's Day Weekend? Look no further than the Happy Hour Half K on Friday, June 19, starting at 6:00 p.m., at Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch.

Have you always wanted to run a half-marathon, or maybe just a 5K, but it seems like too much work? You're in luck! Join us for the 1640-foot Happy Hour Half K benefiting the HRCA Therapeutic Recreation Program. There will be:

🚶 A family-friendly 1640-foot "race" around Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch Town Center featuring...
🍩 One aid station offering water and sustenance (phew!) to help you make it to the finish line
💃🏽 Live music
🍺 Local beer, seltzer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages free for participants (2 each)

This is a non-timed race because everyone is a winner! Haven't started training? No worries... neither has anyone else!

When and where is Packet Pickup?
Pre-race packet pickup will be taking place Wednesday, June 12, from 3-7 pm, at Living the Dream Brewing. If you are unable to make this time, race-day packet pickup will be available beginning at 5:00 pm, at Civic Green, but participants should expect long lines.

 

Are strollers allowed on the course?
Yes, strollers are allowed on this course. Out of courtesy and safety for fellow runners, please start in the back.

 

Are pets allowed on course?
No. No pets are allowed in Civic Green Park.

 

I can’t make the race, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, all registrations are final.

 

What if it rains on race day?
We race rain or shine!

 

Can I register on the day of the race?
There will be no onsite registration for this race however registration will remain open online until the day of the race. If you're interested in joining us last minute, please register online and our system will be able to check you in real-time.

 

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, we act on the honor system here in Highlands Ranch. Others are welcome to pick up for you; no proof of ID is needed.

 

If I don’t want a shirt, bib, beer, etc…. can I run the race or attend the live concert without registering?
No... a lot of effort goes into producing the HRCA race series and we require all attendees to register.

 

Does it cost money to park?
Nope! All parking is free in the Town Center parking lot.

 

Will there be restrooms on-site?
Yes, restrooms will be available in Civic Green Park.

 

Will medical personnel be on-site?
We will have medical services located near the start/finish line. If medical attention is needed seek the medical table near the start/finish line.

 

What should I do if I can't find my child?
If you happen to have a missing child, please let the DJ/Emcee know and he will make an announcement over the loudspeakers

 

Can spectators attend for free?
Spectators may be in the park area but unregistered attendees will not be allowed within a cordoned-off race area where beverages will be served and music will be enjoyed.

 

Can I wear a costume at the race?
Please do! Costumes are encouraged… be on the lookout for our photographer!

The Happy Hour Half K will have multiple food trucks on-site for optional food purchases.

 

Participants will receive the following:

• Race t-shirt (men's, women's, and youth sizing available)
• Race bib
• Finisher medal
• Up to two alcoholic beverages per registered 21+ adult
• Non-alcoholic drinks for those under 21

The Highlands Ranch Therapeutic Recreation Program & Scholarship Fund

The Therapeutic Recreation Programs are intended to enhance the quality of life of individuals with special needs. Their goal is to challenge participants, support general independence, choice, self-determination, and self-confidence in an effort to enhance the quality of life of individuals with special needs. Programs are facilitated by Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists and/or qualified staff. They provide a quality and compassionate community-based environment for participants of all ages and abilities. We want each participant to enjoy recreation. We work towards social independence in a fun and safe environment, while encouraging a general sense of health, wellness, and improved quality of life.

If you cannot attend the pre-race packet pickup, you may pick up your bib and t-shirt on race day beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the registration table. There will be no on-site registration, but online, real-time registration will remain open until the start of the race.
