About IM ABLE Foundation's Ruck & Roll
Get ready to ruck, roll, or stroll through a fall-themed fitness challenge supporting veterans and adaptive athletes! Ruck & Roll brings the community together for an action-packed day of endurance, camaraderie, and fun — with courses and categories for every ability.

- Restaurants and home chefs face off in our chili competition, and each registered participant gets a full bowl of chili along with tasting tickets.

What’s a Ruck?
A ruck is walking or hiking with a weighted pack — a key part of military training used to build strength and endurance. Participants can choose weighted packs, vests, or go unweighted.
What’s a Roll?
The roll is for adaptive athletes using handcycles or recumbents. Competitive rolling takes place on challenging terrain, so please review the course maps before registering.
Ruck Distances
Short: approximately 3-4 miles
Mid: approximately 8-9 miles
Long: approximately 13-14 miles

Ruck Divisions:
Ranger: Competitive: “Heavy” Ruck - Men 45#/Women 35# and Stations (25 reps at each station)
Scout: Competitive: Men 30#/Women 20# and stations (25 reps at each station)
Cadet: Competitive: 15&U and 70+ Men 20#/Women 10# and stations (10 reps at each station
Infantry: Just for Fun: choose your weight or no weight - no awards and stations (reps choice at each station)

Social Teams
The more, the merrier! Gather friends and family to form a social team and get $5 off registration per member (teams of 5+). Social team members can register for any event.

🔥 Think You’ve Got the Best Chili in the Ranks?
Step up to the pot and prove it! The Ruck & Roll Chili Cook-Off is open to all — from kitchen commandos to backyard chefs. This fun, people’s choice competition will bring the heat as attendees sample, savor, and vote for their favorite chili.
💰 Entry Fees & Prizes
- Ruck & Roll Participants: Full-size bowl of restaurant chili and sampling tickets!
- Friends and Family: $10 for chili
- 🏆 Winner receives $100 cash and serious bragging rights!
⏰ Schedule
- Setup & Service by: 10:00 AM
- Tasting & Voting: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Awards: 12:00 PM
🍲 Competitor Guidelines
- Space is limited! Only 8 entries will be accepted.
- Quantities TBD
- There is no electricity on site. Propane or camp stoves are recommended.
- IM ABLE will provide disposables — napkins, 2 oz sample cups, serving spoons, and spoons.
- We have a limited number of camp stoves available to loan — please contact Becky Rennix at becky@imablefoundation.org to reserve one.
🧑🍳 Tasting & Judging
- Attendees will serve as the judges — this is a People’s Choice event.
- Each attendee will receive tasting cups and a voting ballot to sample and select their favorite chili.
- The chili with the most votes wins the cash prize and the title of Ruck & Roll Chili Champion!
