About Judith Mountain 10K
A 10K trail race in the beautiful Judith Mountains— located in the heart of Montana just 10 miles from Lewistown. This 6.2-mile looped course is intermediate level difficulty, with 1,280ft elevation gain, and follows pristine single-track for most of the route.
Or if hiking is more your style, choose the fun 6K out-and-back hike option! Also considered an intermediate level hike with elevation gain of 950’.

FAQ
- I registered for one event but changed my mind and want to switch to a different event, is that possible?
- Yes and no. You can easily transfer from the 10K race to the 6K hike, but you cannot transfer up from the 6K hike to the 10K race. There will be a $1 processing fee, and you will not be refunded the difference in price from the 10K to the 6K. Sign in to your Runsignup account and follow directions to "transfer to another event".
- I am no longer able to participate, but I know someone who would like my spot, can I transfer my spot to them?
- Yes, you can do a participant transfer up until the deadline on Friday, July 31 at 8pm. Login into your runsign.com account and click on "start participant transfer". You can choose to "gift the transfer" and they will be able to register for free. OR you can do a "transfer for a refund"; once they register through the link sent to their email, you will receive a refund within a few business days.
- Are there refunds?
- Refunds are not generally offered unless you elected to purchase race insurance through RegShield when you signed up. If you selected this, follow the details in your confirmation email to file for a refund.
- Can I run the "6K Hike"?
- Nah, don't be that person.
- You filled up already?! Is there a waitlist?
- Yes, due to high demand last year, we decided to open a waitlist this year! Click on the Sign Up button to add yourself to the waitlist. When we have dropouts, the waitlist will be selected on a first come-first serve basis. Watch your email for registration links from Runsignup.com.
- I am pregnant, can I defer my registration until next year?
- Yes, reach out to the race director for these special circumstances.
- What time do the races start?
- 8am for both the 10K run and the 6K hike
- Can someone else grab my packet for me?
- Yes, not a problem!
- Where do I park?
- All runners AND spectators must park at the designated private land 2 miles down from the Lodge. Address is 4390 Lime Kiln Rd.
- NO PARKING anywhere along the road, private driveways, or at the Lodge (*unless you meet special exception* criteria).
- *Exceptions where it is okay to park at the Lodge/Trailhead:
- spectators with small children with strollers/carriers
- spectators with handicap parking/accessibility needs
- spectators traveling from out-of-town with a dog are also allowed to park at the Lodge/Trailhead (note: no dogs are allowed on the shuttle bus)
- *Exceptions where it is okay to park at the Lodge/Trailhead:
- There will be volunteers monitoring parking, so please be respectful of them and the event's guidelines.
- How long does the shuttle bus run?
- 6:30am-7:30am taking runners from parking area to race location every 10-15minutes
- 7:30am: LAST SHUTTLE BUS PICKUP before race start!
- Then the shuttle bus will run every 15 minutes back and forth from the Lodge to parking
- 11:30am: LAST SHUTTLE BUS back to parking area for the day.
- When and where is packet pickup?
- Friday, July 31 from 4-8pm at Fitness Central Gym. Address: 410 W Main St, Lewistown.
- Saturday, Aug 1st from 6:45am-7:45am at race start: Judith Mountain Lodge/Limekiln Trailhead. Address: 6300 Lime Kiln Rd
- this is for out-of-town travelers coming that morning only
- Are there aid stations?
- Yes! There will be 2 aid stations on the course with water, gatorade, and fruit snacks (located close to the 2-mile and 4-mile marks—but not exact!), and 1 aid station at the finish line with water, gatorade, fruit, and fruit snacks. Carrying your own water and fuel is encouraged.
- Will the Judith Mountain Lodge bar/restaurant be open during the event?
- Yes, they are whipping out breakfast burritos for all participants! Their bar will also be open for drinks. Please refrain from mass use of their toilets inside the Lodge and use our porta-potties that are provided instead. There are other guests staying there, so please be respectful to their space.
- Are there porta-potties available?
- Yes, there will be 2 porta-potties at the parking/shuttling area and 4 porta-potties plus a vault toilet at the race start/finish. There are no porta-potties on the course, but there are lots of trees!
- Are there age-group awards?
- Heck yes! The 10K race will have top 3 overall female and male awards, as well as top 3 awards in each age category:
- <20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
- The 6k Hike will not have top place or age-group awards BUT…
- All finishers of the 6k Hike and the 10k run will receive a finisher prize and all will be entered for awesome raffle prizes to be drawn at random.
- The oldest and youngest participants will receive prizes, as well.
- Heck yes! The 10K race will have top 3 overall female and male awards, as well as top 3 awards in each age category:
- Is there race-day registration?
- No.
- Are headphones allowed?
- They are fine, but we recommend open-ear or low-volume to remain alert to your surroundings and to be respectful for passing runners.

- The 6K hike is the first 1.9 miles of the 10K course, then you turn around and come back
- What is the elevation gain/loss?
- 10K: 1,280', with most of the gain occurring in the first 2 miles.
- 6K hike: 950'
- Can I run with my dog?
- While we love our furry friends, they are not allowed on the race course or the shuttle bus. Service dogs are, of course, an exception.
- How do the shirts fit?
- They are unisex sizing, so if you prefer a tighter fit, we suggest sizing down.
- Is there a time cut-off?
- Yes. We are encouraging all runners/hikers to be done with their event in 3 hours, so by 11am. We want to get everyone back in time for Centerfest (gates open at 10:30am and first band starts at 12pm!)
- Is there an age-minimum?
- 10K run: ages 7 and up
- 6K Hike: no age minimum, but please be mindful of the encouraged 3-hour cut-off; we would like all runners and hikers to be back by 11am. Last shuttle bus will leave the Lodge back to parking area at 11:30am.
- Is there a bag drop area?
- You can leave bags and gear in an area behind the registration table where volunteers will be sitting at the race start.
- *Please note: volunteers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Is there a Wave start this year?
- Yes, there will be a self-selected Wave start, with each Wave start separated by 1-2min. You choose which wave you would like to enter. You are chip-timed, so your time for the event starts when you cross the starting mat/strip.
- Wave 1: Competitive Wave: Expected finish time under 1 hour 15min.
- Wave 2: Intermediate Wave: Expected finish time between 1:15 to 1:30
- Wave 3: Recreational Wave: Expected finish time between 1:30 to 3 hours.
- Wave 4: All 6K Hikers
- Yes, there will be a self-selected Wave start, with each Wave start separated by 1-2min. You choose which wave you would like to enter. You are chip-timed, so your time for the event starts when you cross the starting mat/strip.
Parking/Shuttling
MANDATORY parking and shuttling location is a private residence/land located 2 miles from the race start: address is 4390 Lime Kiln Rd.
*Exceptions: spectators with children requiring strollers/carriers OR spectators from out-of-town with dogs can park in special parking spaces at the Lodge OR spectators with handicap parking needs
ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING at the race start/Judith Mountain Lodge OR along the road or private driveways. Volunteers will be monitoring parking, so please be respectful of them and the event's parking guidelines.
