Welcome to the 2027 Katy Half Marathon & 5K presented by Houston Methodist, the premier half marathon race in the largest running community in the Houston area, and race #2 of 9 in the 2027 Run Houston! Race Series!

Finish 3 'Run Houston Races' Half Marathons, 5Ks, or a combination to earn this year's exclusive series finisher swag. Finish the Commit Series or the Bayou City Series to earn an additional finisher pin. 

All participants will receive a finisher medal!

A winner medal will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female, in each age group and overall for both the 5K, Half Marathon & Kid's K timed division.

You can transfer to RUN A DIFFERENT DISTANCE within the same race up to 3 days before the run. If you are transferring to a more expensive race you’ll have to pay the difference of the registration fees. This can be managed on your Run Sign Up profile.

You can DEFER YOUR REGISTRATION to next year’s race or any other All Community Events race for $15 up to 3 days before the run. This can be managed on your Run Sign Up profile.

All WATER STATIONS include water and Half Marathon water stations include water and sports drink.

There will be no GEAR CHECK on the event site. 

If you ordered your RACE PACKET TO BE MAILED TO YOU or signed up for the virtual run, your gear will typically arrive 1 – 4 days before the race day. It will be sent to the address you entered in during registration. If your package does not arrive before the race day, please come to packet pick up or the race site where you will be re-assigned your bib and gear.

Participant gear must be picked up at pre-event pickup or event day. After event day gear may not be available for post-race requests. If you do not pick up your participant gear, there will be a fee to have it mailed to you.Post-race shirt request link.

Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed, though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.

Runners and walkers can participate in this race. See the event schedule for the time limit.

If at any time you require assistance throughout the run please notify a volunteer or course monitor.

All participants are required to sign an online waiver. 

No Dogs. Strollers are allowed for walkers & joggers only, must start in the back of the starting corral and the parent/guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of their child(ren) in the stroller.

This run will be chip timed. Participants wear a timing chip integrated with their bib number that starts their individual time when they cross the start line and stops it when they cross the finish line.

The run will start rain, snow or shine. The run could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions. The above schedule is weather-dependent.

*Courses are entirely on paved road.

Traffic coming off of I-10 will exit either #740, #741 or #742 depending on which cross street they would like to take south to the mall entrances. A number of the mall entrances are closed to help control mass parking. All intersections and entrances will be staffed with police officers. These officers will direct traffic at all times. All vehicles most obey traffic laws and the direction of these officers.

Those entering from the west will be directed to park in the west lots while those entering from the east will be directed to park in the east lost. Depending on when you arrive parking in the east lots may not be closer than parking in the west lots. It all depends on arrival times and availability. We recommend arriving as early as possible. Parking opens at 5:00 am. Also remember there is no race day packet pickup unless purchased as an add on.

Yellow arrows are entrances that will be open until 6am to help the follow of traffic wishing to park. At 6am we will beginning closing the entrances with yellow arrows on the map. By race start the only entrance left open to vehicles wishing to park will be the green entrance. All vehicles entering during this time will be directed to park in the east lots and walk around the south side of the mall. About 1/4-1/2 of a mile.

Handicap parking will be available on both the west side, near post race and on the south side near the start of the kids race making it available to those entering on either side.

EVENT DAY REGISTRATION
There is no event day registration. Race morning packet pickup is available for an additional fee and can be purchased during registration.. See the schedule for other packet pickup dates and times.  If race day packet pickup is not purchased in advance, you MUST pick up your packet at one of the scheduled sessions prior to race morning.  

REFUNDS
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. See our Refund Policy page for details. 

Runners are allowed a one time deferral of their entry to next year's event for a $30 deferral fee. All deferrals and/or distance changes must be submitted before January 8th, 2020.  To defer your entry, please visit your RunSignUp profile page and click Manage Registration under Cypress Half Marathon.

Any transfers in or out of the virtual event must be completed prior to Saturday, January 25th

RELAY POINT - This is where the 2nd Runner will be stationed and where the 1st Runner will meet them during the race at mile 6.35. The relay point will be located at the corner of Kingsland and Cobia.  The physical address is listed below.

1ST RUNNER INFO (2nd runner please also read)

The first runner is to go to the Katy Mills Mall Sun & Ski where post race is, then walk a short distance to the start line from there. The first runner is to follow normal procedure and park according to the parking map provided on our website HERE.

The first runner starts with the main Half Marathon wave, with the bib and timing tag (on back of bib) that was given to them at packet pickup. The first runner starts with all other individual runners at the start.   

When the first runner reaches roughly 6.35 miles on the Half Marathon course, they will turn right off Kingsland into the Welch Dental Group Parking Lot. Assuming winds the morning of the race allow, we will have a number of signs that say RELAY EXCHANGE with an arrow directing the first runner of each relay into the parking lot and around the back to their teammates. If the wind is too strong for the signs we will at least have someone at the parking lot entrance shouting for relay to turn in, but PLEASE look up where Welch Dental Group is so you know and are responsible for turning in, in the event of very strong winds.

The first runner will turn into the parking lot, run around the back (follow cone line) and find their other relay member (the second runner). Each runner has their own bib with their own timing tag on the back. There is no baton to hand off and no number switching. The first runner simply meets his/her runner in the back of the parking lot and the second runner (finishing runner) starts their run. There is a split timing mat located on the road shortly after the second runner leaves the relay area. It is located on the main road to catch the non-relay runners, as well.  Once the second runner crosses that mat the first runner’s time ends and second runner’s time begins.

To get back to the post race area at the mall it is a 2.5-mile direct route. Please do not run this in reverse - drive it. Please realize that you may have to wait in order to get out of the relay area as the run route for the course encloses the area. We ask that you please be patient.  Once out of the relay point, the first runner can make their way back to the mall and find parking near the finish line to meet their relay partner.

2ND RUNNER INFO (1st runner please also read)

The second runner will go directly to Welch Dental Group. If the first runner needs to drop their runner off at the start area they may do so but we recommend doing so very early. The second runner should plan to be gone from the start line area before the race begins at 6:45 AM.   If the second runner is not out of the start line race site before the race begins, there is a strong chance they will not make it to the relay area in time to meet their partner and start their run.  This is due to safety and traffic regulations.  We recommend that if possible both runners drive their own vehicles to their separate starting points in the morning.  Getting out of the mall area once the race starts will be very challenging.

The second runner should know about what time to expect the first runner to get to the relay point at 6.35-miles. The race starts at 6:45am, so please do the math based on the pace your partner expects to run.  We do allow the second runner to stand near the entrance/exit on Cobia where the first runner turns in and run with them to the back of the parking lot.

From the back of the parking lot the second runner takes over and leaves out the back entrance/exit turning right onto Cobia and crossing over the split mat officially starting their time.

The second runner starts at the relay point at mile 6.35 and runs to the end of the course, 13.1-miles. When the second runner crosses the finish line and gets their medal they should identify themselves as a relay team and kindly request a second medal.

The start corral will be located on the outer loop around the mall just outside of Bass Pro Shops. Hip-high barricade fencing will line both sides of the corral from the start line all the way back to where the athletes enter. As each runner enters they will make their way up the corral gathering around the projected finishing time signs posted on the sides of the fencing. As a general rule of thumb the fastest runners should be in the front of the chute closest to the start line and runners should fill in from there based on their projected finishing times.

The Half Marathon course cutoff time is 3:15:00 (15:00/mile pace). The 5k Run course cutoff time is 1:00:00 (19:21/mile pace). Runners that do not cross the finish line within those times will be removed from the course and brought to the post race party. These cutoffs are necessary for the safety of all participants and to preserve the flow of vehicular traffic, and are mandated by local government and business.

For those that have run one of our virtual events before, the process for results submission is the same (though we have extended the normal results submission time frame).  For those who are completing their first virtual run with us, the process is as follows:

1. Run the required distance (Half Marathon, 5K or Kids 1K) on your own time, and at the location of your choice.  Please ensure that you are adhering to all applicable local regulations and guidance, and practicing social distancing.   
2. Submit your results through our online form HERE.  You can also find the link to the form at any time on our website here - http://www.bchalfseries.com/virtual
3. The results submission form will ask for a bib number to help us match results submissions with registrations.  If needed, HERE is a link to a tutorial for how to find your assigned bib number in your RunSignUp profile.
4. To ensure that everyone has adequate time to submit their results, the submission form will remain open through Sunday, March 14th.  
5. Virtual Race Packets containing all your race swag will be delivered right to your doorstep!  We anticipate beginning to ship packets out the 2nd week in March.
