Proceeds from this exciting race directly benefit the East Texas Oil Museum, preserving and celebrating the rich history of the Texas oil boom. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or enjoying a leisurely walk, there's a distance for everyone. With a scenic route through Kilgore and activities for all ages, this event is a fantastic way to support a great cause while staying active. Let's fuel fitness and history together!

Restrooms

Restrooms will be available to all event attendees in the East Texas Oil Museum (open race day at 8:00am CDT!) and the Engineering & Science Building.

Parking

Surface parking is available in the large parking lot to the west of the East Texas Oil Museum, between Ross Avenue and Laird Avenue. Of special note - there will be no entry at Highway 259 and Ross Avenue.

Food & Drink

For 2026, sponsors Cozy Coffee Station and ORIGIN BANK will provide you with water and bananas, respectively. Each participant can also enjoy a treat from Charlie's Sno-Balls!

Important Course Safety Information

The 5K course is "open," meaning there are no road closures. Participants run/walk at their own risk and are expected to remain cognizant of any potential hazards (vehicle traffic, debris and other trip hazards, etc.) while on course. Signage, as well as police officers and other staff/volunteers, will be present on the route to help direct traffic and keep motorists aware of the event in progress. Please remember to obey all traffic/pedestrian laws and remain courteous to all on the roadways: run against the flow of motor traffic, do not run/walk more than 2 abreast (side-by-side), do not make sudden movements i.e. stopping abruptly or darting in a different direction, etc. We thank you in advance for helping to maintain safety for all involved!

This schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the race directors. 

Rules

1. All athletes must wear official race bib prominently and visibly on the front her person, on the outside layer of clothing at all times.
2. Athletes must begin at the proper gun time. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
3. All athletes are expected to familiarize themselves with their course as unexpected issues may arise such as sign vandalism, volunteers failing to appear, etc. Download the RaceJoy app for the best course experience! Deviation from the official course will result in ineligibility for awards.
4. All athletes on course must be registered through this website - no exceptions. NO BANDITS! If you are caught banditing, you may be asked to leave and prohibited from entering the race in the future.
5. Athletes should compete in the event for which he or she is registered unless permitted otherwise by race staff.
6. Switching or selling your bib is prohibited outside of the official transfer method. Participants may self-transfer to another athlete by following these instructions.
7. This is a family-friendly race and strollers are welcome! However, if your child will be out of the stroller's harness at any time while on course, he or she must be registered and documented through this website. No exceptions.

Results

5K results will be posted to www.itri365.com/results live every 5 minutes. Please check your finish time upon completing the course. You have 24 hours to dispute a result, but it is best to do so while the event is still in progress.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers competing in the 5K event in the following age divisions: youth (17 years of age and younger), overall (18 years of age through 39 years of age), and masters (40 years of age and over), for a total of eighteen age group awards.

Awards will be scored by clock time.

• Arrive on-site with plenty of time before your event's scheduled start time.
• Wear your bib (number) on the front of your person. Make sure that it is the bib assigned to you.
• Line-up at the start line safely & self-aware: most elite competitors in the front, slower participants in the back.
• Always compete in the event for which you registered. Never switch distances without alerting a race official.
• Be aware of your surroundings, including other participants, at all times.
• Be sure to thank a volunteer.

• Take a selfie, post on social media, and tag us!
