Grab your sneakers and join us for the KLEIN ISD Education Foundation Fun Run, benefiting the Klein Education Foundation! Underwritten by Campus Kids, this community event will feature a 5K race and kids fun run. Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit the Klein Education Foundation, which awards teacher classroom grants for innovative academic and enrichment projects of the Klein Independent School District.

Are there two different race events I can register for?

Yes!  The kids Fun Run is a 600 meter race around the track for kids ages 5-12 years old.  This race is designed for younger students who may not be able to run/walk a full 5K. Parents are able to watch their child race in heats with kids their own age around the track and meet them at the finish line.  

The 5K is a full (3.1 mile) competitive race beginning & ending at Klein Memorial Stadium and goes along Stuebner Airline, Cypresswood, Kleinwood Dr, & Louetta Rd (see race map for details).

 

Are both races chip timed?

Yes.  A chip timer in your race bib will begin timing each runner as they cross the start line.  **Please note - if your child participates in BOTH the Kids Fun Run & 5K, they will need to register for each and swap their race bib between races.**

 

Can me or my older child run/walk alongside my younger child in the Fun Run?

No. This kid friendly race is designed for younger students (ages 5-12 only) where peers of similar age groups will race alongside each other.  For the safety and integrity of this Kids Fun Run, older students and parents are not allowed to race alongside their child.  However,  we have an amazing group of high school mascots, cheerleaders, stand leaders, and other friendly student volunteers who will line up with each group of kiddos and help guide them throughout the race!  Parents will be able to watch their child from the start line and follow them inside the stadium to watch their entire race and meet them at the finish line for a high five.

 

Can I bring a stroller and young children to the 5K?

Yes!  The 5K is a walk/run event designed for the whole family.  Strollers and young children are encouraged to attend!

 

Can I register the morning of the race?

No.  In order to adequately prepare for race start, race registration closes at midnight on Friday night before the race.  But, you CAN pick up your bib that morning at the race, if you've already registered.  

 

What are race proceeds used for?

All money raised at the KEF 5K & Fun Run is used to fund teacher grants through the Klein Education Foundation.  Click here to learn more >>

 

Can we register as a team or group?

No.  Our race registration is not set up to accommodate teams.  Instead, each participant is prompted to select a school during the registration process.  The schools with the most participants will receive cash back to their school!  Thank you for supporting our campuses in this way.

 

Can I be a sponsor and have a booth at the race festival?

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

     7:00 am Recommended arrival for 5K Race

     7:30 am 5K Run/Walk Begins

     5K AWARDS CEREMONY - immediately following the last runner finish

      Awards will be given to top overall male & female as well as overall masters male & female.  1st-3rd place awards will be given for age groups men/women (14-under,15-19,20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69,70-over).  No duplication of awards.  Results will be posted to the results page of the website here.

 

KIDS FUN RUN

     8am - Recommended Kids Fun Run arrival

     8:30 am - Kids Fun Run Begins.  Please note this start time is approximate!  We suggest all kids fun run racers arrive at 8:00 am to get checked in and lined up. The Kids Fun Run races will be in heats, by age and gender, although not necessarily in this order:  Boys 11 & 12, Girls 11 & 12, Boys 9 & 10, Girls 9 & 10, Boys 7 & 8, Girls 7 & 8, Boys 6 & under, Girls 6 & Under

     KIDS FUN RUN AWARDS CEREMONY - 1st through 3rd place medals will be given to kids in each age group.  No overall medals are awarded in the kids fun run category.  All results will be posted here on the website immediately following the race. 

*Please note the schedule above is subject to change due to weather, delays, or other unforseen circumstances.  We suggest arriving at least 30 mins prior to your race start time to be safe.  

 

FESTIVAL & STUDENT PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:

Families & spectators are encouraged to stay throughout the event and after the run to enjoy fun festivities, student performances, local vendor booths, food trucks, interactive experiences and more! Check facebook for list of participants.

Safety/Medical/Water

Insurance restrictions prohibit bicycles, skates, roller blades, headphones, and pets. Water stations will be provided for at the race start, 1 and 2 mile marks and at the finish line. A first aid station will be located by the start/finish line.

Inclement Weather Plan

 If there is heavy rain with lightning, a race delay of the start time will be announced. The race will resume upon improved conditions.

• Kids Fun Run: $15 Student (Ages 5 through 5th Grade)

Regular registration 
• 5K Run/Walk Registration Fees: $35 Adults, $30 Student (K-12th Grade)
• Kids Fun Run; $20 Student (Ages 5 through 5th Grade)

Late registration 
• 5K Run/Walk Registration Fees: $40 Adults, $35 Student (K-12th Grade)
• Kids Fun Run: $20 Student (Ages 5 through 5th Grade)

Race proceeds benefit all of the students and facilities of Klein ISD through school and teacher Education Foundation Grants. Grants are awarded both Fall and Spring Semesters.
