Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon

We are excited to bring you the Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon presented by Trane Technolgies! This is a USAT sanctioned event in Davidson, NC. It features a 750 meter swim, 12.7 mile bike, and a 5K run. Located on the beautiful campus of Trane Technologies, it's a great triathlon for beginners and seasoned triathletes alike.

Swim:
The 750 meter swim features an in-water start with the water temperature historically being in the low 80’s so wetsuits are hardly ever permitted. The rectangular shaped course starts right at the lake front at the Trane Technologies Campus with the swim finish located only about 50 yards down the shore from the start location. The water is usually very flat as the course is situated in a protected area of the lake that is sheltered from the wind. Participants will be required to wear a swim cap that designates which wave they are in. We will provide the swim cap for you at packet pick up. The swim waves and start times will be posted in the Event Details which are posted the week of the event.

Bike:
The bike course is a 12.7 mile loop which begins and ends on the Trane Technologies Campus. The bike course completely avoids downtown Davidson and Davidson College areas. The bike course quickly becomes a ride through the rural roads of far north Mecklenburg County. The course is moderately hilly with a couple of decent size hills – though nothing too intimidating.

Run:
The run course takes place completely on the Trane Technologies Campus. The out and back course is also slightly hilly with lots of turns. If the temperatures are high – the run course will be hot – as shade is at a premium.

Top 3 Relay Teams (Mixed)

You must be present at the awards ceremony to receive your award.

Below is a brief description of each race category:
Age Group – Participants competing in their age group.
Novice – Category for beginner participants. Participants competing as a Novice have usually done less than 3 events.
Relay Team - Relays can be 2-person (one person does 2 legs, and one person does 1 leg) or 3-person teams (each person does 1 leg of the event).

NOTE: You may fit into one or more of the above categories, so whichever category you choose to compete in is completely your choice. Choose the category that you feel you would have the most fun competing in.

NOTE: Photo ID is required for packet pick-up. Everyone must pick up their own race packet, including relay team members. This is a USAT rule.

Volunteers will direct you. Spectators are welcome at the event. You will be allowed everywhere except in the finish line chute and the transition area.  Spectators will be directed to park in the same area as Participant Parking. The NCAA and the Club teams should be directed to park in the same lot as the Volunteers. 

Schedule

7:00 AM – Race day registration closes
7:30 AM – Race Start
10:30 AM – Projected awards ceremony (will be adjusted based on last finisher’s time)

In the last 12 months, the Food Pantry at Ada Jenkins served 100% more individuals than the previous year.  With more people served, the demand for staple items consistently remains high. We would greatly appreciate if our race participants would assist in bringing to the race any of the following items and drop them off at the Ada Jenkins Center tent next to Packet Pick-up pre-race or at the Ada tent in Event Village post-race.  The following items are most needed: 

• Condiments (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard) 
• Canned fruit (low sugar or in juice) 
• Instant coffee
• Grits
• Salad dressings
• Toilet tissue
• 3-5 lb. bags of cat/dog food
• Diapers (sizes 3, 4, 5, 6)
• Adult incontinence underwear (like Depends) in sizes M, L, XL
• Toothbrushes
• Full-size (not travel size):
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Bodywash

In the event of inclement weather, the following procedures will be followed:

The event will be postponed in hopes the inclement weather will pass. If the inclement weather does not pass in time to complete the event safely in the original or modified format, the event will be canceled. If the weather passes and the event cannot be held within the permitted time limits, the event will be changed to a duathlon format and possibly modified in length to meet these restrictions.

Every effort will be made to hold this event on time on this date. Should this event be canceled due to an Act of God or other circumstance beyond the race directors' control there will be no refunds, credits, or transfers.

NO EXCEPTIONS will be made to this policy.
