How are racer camp spaces assigned?
Camp spaces are assigned based on order of registration. The earlier you register, the closer your space will be to the start/finish area. Space #1 is always reserved for the previous year's winner.
What is your refund, transfer, or deferral policy?
Events such as Last Man Standing Ultramarathon take time, energy, and planning year round to ensure that the best possible experience is presented. As such, refunds are not offered.
Because staging spaces for LMS are assigned according to order of registration and because the event typically sells out quickly, we do not offer registration transfers. If you are unable to make it to the event we suggest deferring to the next year, and if you have a friend who would like to register please suggest that they join the wait list if the event is sold out.
We offer free, no questions asked deferrals to the next year's event up until roughly a month before the current event's date. This can be processed by following these steps: RunSignup Deferral
Can I change my camp space to be next to a friend?
We can likely change your camp space to be closer to a friend as long as we receive your request early enough, but we cannot guarantee that it will happen. Additionally, we cannot move either of your spaces up, only back. For example, if you are #5 and your friend is #100 and you request to be closer to each other your friend will stay at #100 and you will be changed to #99 while everyone ahead of you will be moved up one space.
Sleeping Accommodations:
Unfortunately, we cannot host camping at the race venue the night before the race. Racers and spectators may stay for the duration of the event on the racers’ assigned camp spaces.
Will there be parking allowed on the property?
When racers arrive on Saturday morning they may drive into the race venue and unload their gear. After doing so they must drive across the street to the Pineland Farms campus. There they will find ample parking for the weekend.
Weather Information for September in Maine:
Expect daytime temperatures anywhere between 65 and 80 degrees and overnight lows around 45 degrees. We have only experienced rain once in the 7 year history of this event, but runners should plan accordingly. Maine September overnight temperatures combined with rain could be potentially hazardous for runners still on course.
Are there age restrictions for this event?
While we do not have age restrictions in place, we ask that you use your discretion. We ask that any minors who sign up have an adult on site throughout the duration of their run.
Are spectators allowed?
Spectators are not only allowed, they are highly encouraged.
Will food and beverage be provided?
Light “ultra” snacks and water will be provided but racers are ultimately responsible for their own nutrition and hydration and should not rely on race organizers for their fuel.
What is the course like?
You can expect wide, well groomed double track trails and a small field section. There are no road sections in this course. Check out Strava for more details:
Can I bring my camper/RV?
Unfortunately we cannot allow campers or RVs at the race venue. If you arrive with a camper and it can fit in a regular vehicle space at the Pineland campus across the street you may park it there, but accessing it during the race will not be possible for racers.
Are pacers allowed?
Pacers are not allowed in the backyard ultra format. Racers may not receive any aid whatsoever between the start and finish lines, except for what they can carry on their person as they complete each lap.

RULES
Our event kicks off at 12:00 PM on Saturday August 31st. Racers will have 1 hour to complete the 4.2 mile loop. If you return in under an hour you are eligible to line up for the start of the next lap at 1:00 PM. You must be at the start line when the race director counts down the start of the next lap. This format will continue and laps will start at the top of each hour until only one participant is able to complete a lap. If all remaining participants fail to complete the lap in under 1 hour, the event is over and we will not have a winner.
