About Lexington Legacy 5k

In 2008, the Lexington High School Cross Country / Track & Field program hosted its first annual “Alumni Race” on the same, nearly all-road course the team has called home since 1970. Over the last 18 years, with the support of athletes, coaches, and parent volunteers our tradition has grown into an event that allows us to share the sport we love with the larger community. Our track family invites you to join us at the Lexington Legacy 5k run/walk this year on Saturday, November 28th at 9am. All proceeds will go to support the nearly 300 boys and girls on the LHS Cross Country / Track & Field team.

Post-Race Party at Revolution Hall

Once you cross the finish line, head over to Revolution Hall from 10:30am to 1pm for a relaxed post-race gathering. The space is large enough for groups, comfortable for families, and built for the kind of conversation that usually follows a shared effort on the course.

Revolution Hall will be ready with ice cold beer, fresh pepperoni pizza, a special brunch menus, and a full menu for anyone looking to refuel with something more substantial. Guests can spread out, cool down, and take advantage of the open seating while the Lexington running community reconnects after the race.

If you are meeting friends or running with teammates, this is the easiest place to regroup. If you are new to the event, it gives you a chance to meet the people who keep the program moving. Either way, it extends the morning in a way that fits the tradition of the Lexington Legacy 5k.

Spectator Info

Race Viewing

The USATF certified course offers a very spectator friendly layout. Spectators can easily view participants four separate times throughout the race. The starting line is just behind the Little League Baseball diamond at Lincoln Field in Lexington. Participants then head out to Worthen Road, and wind their way through the neighborhood surrounding Lexington High School, before finishing where they started.

Beginning at the starting line, once the race goes off, spectators are encouraged to walk down a short path that leads them to a prime viewing area of the race as it passes the one-mile mark. Spectators can remain at this location, as participants will loop back to that same spot just after passing the two-mile mark. At this point, spectators can simply walk back on that same path to the starting line at Lincoln Field to catch participants as they finish.

For LHS Alumni

We invite any LexXCTF alumni to join us at 8:45am at the starting line for a group photo before the race goes off.

Thank You

We could not have done it without your support!

We had a fantastic year, with over 450 registrations! Thank you to all the runners who powered up Baskin and Loring, friends and family that showed up to cheer everyone on, and the dozens of volunteers who helped make the event a tremendous success!

Compete race results can be found in the menu under the "Results" tab.

Along with the local business community, we would also like to offer a special thank you to our very generous group of donors. In addition to supporting the nearly 300 boys and girls on the Lexington High School Cross Country / Track & Field team, their gifts allow our program to continue to provide opportunities for the young people in our community to participate in the sport we love through our track & field clinics for elementary and middle school-aged kids, as well as Lexington's 5th Grade Track & Field Meet.
