Swim
Each athlete will swim 300 meters in the outdoor pool at the Broadlands Community Center. The pool's deepest area if five (5) feet.
The swim will be conducted as a snake swim, meaning athletes will begin in "lane 1" and snake the pool going down and back in each lane for a total of 300 meters. Athletes are asked to touch the wall at each end of the pool.
Flip turns are permitted, however please be mindful of your neighboring athletes in the water with you. Athletes will not be permitted to dive, you will enter from a seated position on the side of the pool.
Athletes will lined up according to the swim time offered at the time registration.
Transition Area
The transition area is for athletes only. Athletes may enter the area with their bib number. We ask that family and friends remain outside of the transition area, outside of mesh fencing, at all times.
There are two transitions in a triathlon: swim > bike (Transition 1 or T1) and bike > run (Transition 2 or T2).
For this triathlon, T1 & T2 are within the same transition area located in the parking lot of Broadlands Community Center (pool) at 43008 Waxpool Rd. Ashburn, VA.
The transition area will be fenced off and have numbered areas for each athlete to set up their equipment (bike, helmet, shoes, towel, etc.) giving a space to transition/get ready for the next step within the event. Your transition area space will be identified by your bib number.

Body Marking will take place in the transition area on race day from 6:15 AM to 7:15 AM.
It is each athlete’s responsibility to ensure that volunteers correctly mark their race age, which is based on the athlete’s age as of December 31, 2026. This age determines the division in which the athlete will compete.
To help ensure body markings remain visible throughout the event, please do not apply sunscreen, oil, Vaseline, lotion, or similar products until after you have been body marked.

Age Group Eligibility
Athletes will compete in the age group that matches their age on December 31, 2026.
This means your racing age for the entire 2026 season is based on how old you will be at the end of the year, not on your age on race day. Athletes "age up" on January 1 and remain in that age group for all USA Triathlon-sanctioned events throughout the year.
Example: If you turn 35 at any point during 2026, you will compete in the 30–39 age group for the entire 2026 season, even if you are still 34 on race day.
