Longmont Rec Center
310 Quail Rd, Longmont, CO 80501

Half Marathon Course Notes:

Leave the start line and go north east. At .66 miles is first course marshal – sends runners to the RIGHT which is the FIRST FINGER.

At 2.9 is first WATER STATION at the E County Line road and Quicksilver – in the trailhead parking area on the east side of the County Line Road.

Continue to bridge just before Sandstone Ranch Nature Center area (not running into parking area) and turn around (approx mile 4.25).  On the way back, encounter the water station again – it is now mile marker 5.8.

At about 7.8 miles, runners are back to the first marshal at the JUNCTION.  A second water station is placed just north of the creek at this Junction.  Energy gels are available at this station.  Racers turn RIGHT – NORTH which is the SECOND FINGER that goes to Shoes and Brews.  (Mile 9.1) and then come back to the JUNCTION. Which is now Mile 10.2 where runners will see a water station for the 4th time.

From the junction, runners head back toward the finish line.  Runners do NOT turn left to cross the trail to the finish (at mile 10.7) , but complete one last finger, heading WEST before turning around at mile 11.73 just before Bowen Street. THEN turn around and run back to the finish.  The right turn to the finish is at 12.95 miles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5k Course Notes:

5k Runners will leave the start area and run northeast. Turn around at the first turn around and return back (southwest) as if you're going to the start line.  Rather than turning LEFT to the start line, continue straight west to the final turn around past Kanemoto Park. Then return to the start line (run east and then south to finish.)

WATER STATIONS
At each water station, you will find water and an electrolyte replacement drink.  There are two aid stations on the 13.1 course that you will pass a total of four times. They are located approximately miles 3, 6, 8 and 11.

RESTROOMS
Restrooms are located at the Expo area.  There is access to restrooms/portojohns along the course at miles 1.5 and 7 (just a tiny walk off course to the St. Vrain Greenway Parking Lot) and at Kanemoto Park at miles 11.9 and 12.1.

FAQs

No question is too silly to ask regardless of whether you're a rookie or a veteran.  Help us improve the FAQ Page!  Send your general or specific question(s) to info@3WRaces.com and type: "LONGMONT HALF FAQ" in the subject line!

WATER- CUP FREE FINISH
All 3W Races events maintain a cup free finish area.  This means that water will be available for refilling your personal water bottles.  Feel free to leave you water bottle near the Finish Line on race day morning.  Biodegradable cups will be used on the course, but no disposable cups will be available at the finish line. Thank you!

WALKERS
Walkers and joggers should always stay to the right, faster runners should pass on the left.  Walkers, please keep your groups down to two abreast so that others may pass you.

Since the Half Marathon course is open for 3 hours and 30 minutes, some walkers may desire to start EARLIER than the official start time so you can return to the finish before the finish line and expo close.  You may start up to 60 minutes early, and must notify the race director in advance that you wish to do so.

Please note that aid stations are operational and course marshals are officially on duty at the time the regularly scheduled half marathon begins and may not be operational when walkers first pass.

PACKET PICKUP
Can't make it to advanced packet pick up?  Send a friend, family member or teammate!  We will allow others to pick up for you.  Yes, there is same day pick up available starting 60 minutes before the first race starts.  Avoid the lines; pick up early!  It's not a secret...it makes race day run smoother for everyone when you pick up your gear in advance.  That's why we give special raffle prizes and other cool stuff away to those who pick up early!!

If you can't make it to advanced packet pick up and have to miss out on the race we are unable to get you your packet. We try not to be wasteful; so all packets must be picked up on or before race day. Unfortunately we cannot hold it for you to pick up or mail it to you after the race. Any left over packets get recycled and/or donated immediately following the event.

If you can't run for any reason, please feel free to still pick up your packet at advanced packet pick up or on race day.

Military Discount
Yes!  Send us your rank and branch to info@3WRaces.com and request a military discount code.  We'll send you a 10% off code that you use on all 3W events throughout the calendar year in which it is requested. (Does not apply to 'packaged or bundled' races or virtual events.)  You'll also receive special use instructions in the email at that time! Note: may be required to show proof at time of packet pick up!

Groups/Team Of 5 Or More
When you have a group of five or more, everyone saves $5! The way this works is as follows:
-Participant 1: Signs up first at full price and creates a TEAM. You will have to create a team name and a password so that only your group can sign up with you. (Click here for info on how to create a team.)-Participants 2 through 4: Register like normal making sure to join the team, at full price.
-Participant 5 and on: Signs up, joining the team as well, and notices their registration is $5 cheaper! WOO HOO!
Then, a $5 refund is automatically applied to participants 1 through 4 (assuming they paid at least $5.00 for the race)!

Cool, huh? Teams must be created or joined at time of registration. Team Rewards/Refunds will not be awarded retroactively. I.E: you must sign up for a team at registration to be eligible for the $5 discount or refund.
Click here for info on how to join a team when registering.

My coupon code/voucher isn't working, what do I do?
Thanks for your patience, this is an easy fix. First, DO NOT complete your registration. Please email us the voucher/coupon code, a little info on where you got it, and if applicable, a picture of the voucher/gift certificate. We'll get back to you shortly and look into why the code may not be working! If you're on a time crunch because of a price increase, don't worry, we'll honor it when we fix your code.

DOGS & STROLLERS
Your well behaved, leashed dog and well behaved, belted in child in a stroller are welcome at this event.  Please start in the appropriate wave with other dogs or strollers at the BACK of the pack to start. You do not need to register a child riding in a stroller.

Are Headphones Allowed?
Yes, you may run with headphones. We just ask that you leave one ear bud out or have the volume low enough to hear important announcements at the start/finish and volunteer/course marshal directions on the course!

Can my child run with me? Do I have to register them/pay for them?
Of course your kiddo can participate!

If your child stays in the stroller the whole race, no, you do NOT have to register them as a separate participant.

Our rule is, if they are using their own two feet to participate in one of our races, then, YES, you do need to register them. This is due to safety, participant counts for city permits and calculation of materials needed for the race!

RESULTS

SHIRTS & FINISHER MEDALS
The shirt is the same style, cut and logo design for both distances.  Each 5k AND Half Marathon finisher will receive a FINISHER'S MEDAL at the finish line.  You must finish the race to receive the finisher's medal.

On race day, you may visit the 3W Races Registration table/tent in the expo to exchange shirt sizes or purchase additional shirts while supplies last.

If your shirt size is not listed on the registration page, then we have sold out of that size.  Please select the 'no shirt' option for a $5 discount.  It is possible that some racers will not pick up their packets and you may be able to get a shirt in your size on race day after the race.  Check with the 3W Races table in the expo!

Parking/Driving Instructions

DRIVING/PARKING DIRECTIONS: See a google map with driving directions HERE. Keep reading for some landmarks to follow!

PREFERRED PARKING OPTION:  As you approach the park from Main Street in Longmont, you'll travel EAST on Hwy 119 (also called E Ken Pratt Blvd). You'll pass Walmart on the South side of the highway.  KEEP GOING to the next right hand road (called Sands One, but it is very hard to see the street name.)  This is just BEFORE the GMC Dealership on the south side of the road.  Turn right (south) there and you're at the driveway for Sandstone Ranch Park.  Take an immediate right off of Sands One Drive and you're in the parking lot for the main pavillions/soccer fields where the race will be!

ALTERNATE PARKING OPTION: As you approach the park from Main Street in Longmont, you'll travel EAST on Hwy 119 (also called E Ken Pratt Blvd).  You'll pass Walmart on the South side of the highway.  Walmart is on the corner of Ken Pratt and Zlaten Drive.  Zlaten Drive is the driving route to the West side of Sandstone Park.  It takes you to the baseball fields (east side of Zlaten).  There is no way to DRIVE from the baseball fields/parking to the east side of the park where the start line is, but it is just a short walk to the start line from there.  From the ball park parking area, just follow the concrete trail behind the pavilion EAST to the soccer fields where you'll see the MAIN pavilion in the center of the soccer fields.

Sneakers 4 Good

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Sneakers4Good to provide you with a socially responsible way to donate your gently worn, used or new sneakers and running shoes to a good cause we support! The sneakers will help benefit Growing Home as well as give a hand up, not a handout, to micro-enterprises in 25 developing countries. The athletic shoes will be kept out of landfills where they can take decades to fully decompose. Visit Sneakers4Good to learn more!

It's super simple! All you need to do is bring your lightly worn athletic shoes and sneakers to the race (either race day or at packet pick up). We collect them and mail them and a donation is made to Growing Home!

Please donate only gently worn, used, and new athletic shoes.  These sneakers, trainers, and other athletic shoes will be worn again by people in developing nations, so please make sure there are no holes or soles falling off and that they are in wearable condition.  Dress shoes, sandals, brown shoes, flip flops, cleats, etc. and other shoes that are NOT athletic shoes will NOT be accepted.

Please tie your shoes together or put a rubber band around the pair!

Timing / Awards

Age groups will be recognized as:
5K: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

The event is CHIP TIMED.  OVERALL Winners (top three m/f) are scored based on GUN TIME.  All others (age groups) are scored based on chip time.

Your chip time starts when your timing chip crosses the start line.  Your timing chip is adhered to the back of your race bib (race number.)  You will receive this number from the registration volunteers when you pick up your shirt/race packet.  Please wear the bib that is assigned to YOU and not to someone else in your family.  Please wear the bib on the FRONT, OUTSIDE of your clothing just above your hips.  If you wear a bib assigned to someone else or do not wear the bib HORIZONTALLY on the front, outside of your clothing, your result may not register and you will be ineligible for awards.

RESULTS will be sent to you electronically upon finishing (if you opt in for that option during registration.) And will be available to view here LIVE during the event and after the race.  Please email us if you find an error, in the case that you wore someone else's bib or your age/gender information, name spelling, etc is incorrect.  info@3wraces.com
