About Los Alamos NJROTC Extreme 5k and Fun Run
September 12, 2026 : Registration opens at 7:00am, event begins at 8:00am
The Los Alamos NJROTC Extreme 5K and Fun Run is more than just a race—it is a purposeful event designed to bring people together in support of a meaningful cause. Recently rebranded, this event now serves as a fundraiser for the Los Alamos NJROTC program, directly supporting the growth, training, and development of its cadets.
At its core, the event is dedicated to raising awareness for suicide prevention, promoting resilience, and encouraging open conversations about mental health. While the mission is serious, the atmosphere is one of positivity, unity, and celebration of life. Participants from across the community and beyond are invited to come together not only to support the cause, but to enjoy a memorable experience filled with camaraderie, encouragement, and friendly competition.
The “Extreme” in the title is well-earned. The 5K course presents a true challenge, featuring approximately 383 feet of elevation gain that will test endurance and determination. Whether participants choose to take on the full 5K or join the more accessible fun run, there is an opportunity for everyone—regardless of fitness level—to be involved and make an impact.
Ultimately, the Los Alamos NJROTC Extreme 5K and Fun Run stands as a testament to strength, perseverance, and community spirit. It is an event where individuals can challenge themselves, support one another, and take part in something larger than themselves—all while celebrating life and the power of coming together.

Not a runner but still want to do the full 5k because 1 mile just isn’t enough? Walkers are invited to participate in the 5k as well!
If you sign up for the 5k or virtual 5K and donate $50 or more you will receive $15 off your registration fee!
If you sign up for the Fun Run and donate $30 or more you will receive $5 off your registration fee!
We are offering a Family and Friends registration. When you register 4 or more people at the same time you can receive $10 off each participant for the 5k or $5 off for the Fun Run.

1st Annual 'til Valhalla 5k and Fun Run 2023 Huge Success
Los Alamos High School NJROTC thanks everyone involved in our first ever annual 5k event in the fight against Veteran suicide. It was a huge success thanks to our sponsors, Los Alamos County, LANL and all of the participants that came out to run in support of our cause! We raised $7,500 to donate to Mission 22 and that is AMAZING! We can only hope to continue to grow every year moving forward! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, WE HOPE TO SEE YOU BACK NEXT YEAR!!
