About McNellie's Pub Run

Join us for the 21st Annual Tulsa McNellie's Pub Run!  The annual downtown Tulsa tradition that combines running (or walking) with beer drinking!  A perfect combination!  This event is a timed on street race!  The event will start at 3 in the afternoon, as is tradition.  

Three options for the event are available - the Guinness Challenge 4 Mile Pub Run, the normal 4 Mile Pub Run, and a 1 km fun run.  All events include a race shirt and finisher medal, as well as two post race beers.  If you elect to do the Guinness Challenge, you will also have the opportunity to consume THREE beers during the 4 mile Pub Run - the famous beer and running challenge!

FAQs

Q: How do I know if I signed up for the race?

A: Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events or if you select My Registered Races (under My Upcoming Events) it will also be listed here.

 

Q: Can I transfer my race registration to another race?

A: Yes, when there are greater than 30 days until race date.  Follow these steps:

Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on Manage Registration.  Click on Transfer to Another Race in the bottom section of the page.

 

Q: Can I receive a refund for this race?

A: Yes, when there are greater than 30 days until race date.  Processing fees cannot be refunded.  Follow these steps:

Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on Manage Registration.  Click on Request Refund in the bottom section of the page.

 

Q: Are there any discounts for race registration fees?

A: Unless listed on our social media or announced through the Race Page – registration fees are as posted.

 

Q: Can I exchange my race shirt for a different size before the race?

A: Through packet pick-up you can change your shirt size following these steps:  Log in to your Run Sign Up account. Click the circle profile icon. Select profile. The race in question should be listed under My Upcoming Events. Click on manage.  Scroll to bottom and select the Add-Ons Option. NOTE:  If a shirt size is sold out, you will not be able to switch to the sold out size. In this instance, you will need to take the shirt size for which you registered.  On race day, after the race, if we have a shirt in the size you want still available, you can swap at that time.

 

Q: Can I do the race virtual even though it’s an in-person race?

A: No we do not have a virtual option for this race.

 

Q: Can I register for the race in person instead of online?

A: All registrations, even race day registrations, are done on computers.

 

Q: Can I pick up my bib and shirt at the race?

A: Yes! If you are unable to pick up your packet before race day, it will be at the race registration table prior to the start of the race.

 

Q: Can I register on race day?

A: If there are available spots on race day - This event often sells out.  I wouldn't chance it!

 

Q: Where do I park for the race?

A: Check the race RunSignUp page for race specific parking information under Race Info.

 

Q: Where do I find a map of the race route?

A: On the race page, you will find a map of the route under the ‘Race Info’ tab.

 

Q: What happens if there’s bad weather on race day?

A: Weather conditions will be monitored on race day. In the case of severe weather, the start times of the races may be delayed. Rain does not cancel race. In the extreme case the weather is severe enough to cancel the race, there will be no makeup date.

 

Q: Will water be provided for participants?

A: Yes! Water will be provided on the route for 4K+ event and at the finish for all participants.

Packet Pickup

Participants will receive an email once packet pickup begins the week of the race. The email will contain pick-up location and details. 

Saturday 11/7/26, race day, NEAR START AND FINISH LINES AT McNELLIE'S, beginning at 1 pm.  NOTE THIS IS THE SAME LOCATION AS WE USED IN 2025 FOR PACKET PICKUP AND THE START OF THE RACE!

We do advise you to pick up in advance as it gets very crowded on race day.  Also on race day, you will need to get a "beer wristband" by the start line to receive your beers in and after the race. You must show your ID to be issued a wristband.

Note that when you pick up your packet you will be given the shirt size you registered for.  If you want to change sizes you can do that after the race once all packets have been picked up and if we have any extra shirts remaining.

Guinness Challenge Details

If you are in the Guinness Challenge, your race bib (number) will have FIVE beverage tabs on the bottom – three of those are for the three beers you will receive on the course and two are for the two beverages after the race.  

At each beer stop you will need to pull off the correct tab for the location and drop that into a collection box before picking up your beer. So do not lose your tabs!  You must drink the beer inside the fenced in area at each beer stop.  Do not carry your beers outside of those zones.  

 

Pub Run History

The idea for the Pub Run was hatched in late 2005, less than one year after the Pub
opened, when Elliot and Meg Nelson and Lori and I met for a lunch at the Pub downtown. Of
course, it included a beer. I had seen other Pub type races in New England, and they tended to be
the odd distance of 4 miles. So that’s how the distance was arrived at. Anything other than a 5k was my thinking.
As we enjoyed our lunch and perhaps a second beer, I presented an idea – to make this thing
interesting we really need to have beer(s) during the race. Elliot of course thought that was a great
idea. He figured he could get Guinness to sponsor the beer. And so, the Guinness Challenge was
born! That first year, we had 381 finishers! Since that time the race has grown to over 1500 annual racers..
