About Mill Towns Race Series

The Mill Towns Race Series, presented by Post Consumer Brands, offers chip-timed marathon, half marathon and 10K distances, all run on a flat, scenic course. The marathon is a Boston-qualifying, certified course.

Take the stress out of racing toward your next PR or running your first half marathon or marathon!

The races start and finish in Memorial Park in the Mill Town of Dundas, where you'll also park, pick up your bib and enjoy pre- and post-race festivities. We will have water stops, finish line food and fun, race bibs and finisher medals. NEW FOR 2026: an optional race shirt you can order when you register. Our looping, tree-lined course takes you along the Cannon River from Dundas to the other Mill Town, Northfield, and then back again. The 10K completes one loop, the half marathon two loops and the marathon four loops.

We don't have long lines, parking headaches or an expo to add to your schedule. We will be offering packet pick up ahead of race day for those who prefer that option. Race-day packet pickup will still be available and quick.

The Mill Towns Race Series will help people strive toward their fitness goals, whether it be achieving a new personal record, qualifying for the Boston marathon or participating in their first race. We are limiting participation to a total of 200 runners to give every participant a personal, easy experience and make sure they feel supported and welcomed.

Hosted by the nonprofit Your Pace or Mine Running Club Inc. (tax ID #99-1300954; Road Runners Club of America Group nonprofit exemption #2702), the Mill Towns Race Series offers your company opportunities to build brand awareness with the Minnesota running community, participate in an employee volunteer activity, support health-promoting activities, and support Project Purple, a 501c3 nonprofit organization funding pancreatic cancer research and patient aid.

Corporate Team-Building Opportunities

Looking for a fun team-building opportunity? Consider:

  • Gathering volunteers to staff one of our three “Quench the Thirst Water Stops.” You’ll play a critical role in runner safety, provide needed fluids and be a huge source of encouragement. Volunteers can wear your company branded clothing and you’re free to brand the water stop with your signage, canopy, etc. Water, sports drinks and gels provided.
  • Recruiting a corporate team to participate in the event! Companies that field a team of at least 10 runners can put up a company-branded canopy in a designated location in the start/finish area for pre- and post-race gatherings.

Supporting Project Purple

project purple logo

Proceeds from the Mill Town races will be donated to Project Purple, a nonprofit organization that funds critical research to develop a means for early detection of pancreatic cancer and patient aid. Project Purple's primary fundraising means is as a charity partner to endurance events, including 5 of the 6 world major marathons. Project Purple teams run marathons and half marathons in some of the country's most prestigious races (New York, Chicago, Boston, Twin Cities) as well as the Berlin and London marathons. In 2022, more 15,000 individuals competed in about 25 events to support Project Purple’s mission of a world without pancreatic cancer.

Since its founding in 2010, Project Purple had funded more than $3 million in research and provided more than $510,000 in aid to help patients cover medical bills, utilities, housing and food costs while undergoing treatment.

Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate of just 13 percent. It is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in Minnesota, primarily because most people are diagnosed at stage 4, after the disease has spread beyond the pancreas.

Pancreatic Cancer Risk Factors

  • Obesity: Obese people (body mass index of 30 or more) are about 20 percent more likely to develop pancreatic cancer. Gaining weight as an adult can also increase risk.
  • Age: Patients tend to be older than 45 and the risk increases as people age.
  • History of pancreatitis: Pancreatitis, long-term inflammation of the pancreas, is often seen with heavy alcohol use and smoking.
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Smoking: People who smoke have about twice the risk of getting pancreatic cancer than those who have never smoked.
  • Race: African Americans are slightly more likely to develop pancreatic cancer than whites.
  • Family history: about 10 percent of cases are familial.

Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer

  • Sudden weight loss
  • Recent onset of diabetes
  • Indigestion
  • Changes in stool
  • Loss of appetite
  • Stomach pain
  • Jaundice
