Moon GLOW 5K Run & Walk

Get ready to light up Moon Township! Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to take part in an unforgettable evening packed with glow-in-the-dark fun. Expect neon face painting, glowing accessories, high-energy music, and plenty of excitement from start to finish.

The Glow Run is more than just a race-it’s a nighttime celebration featuring music, dancing, entertainment, and an awards presentation. Wear your brightest colors and be part of the glow!

In the event of severe or unsafe weather, the race may be converted to a virtual format for safety. Full policy can be found under the “Weather Policy" page

Each participant will receive a custom medal, an event shirt, glow sticks, and other fun swag in a bag (while supplies last).

Awards will be provided for 5k - 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall male and female, and top male and female in each age bracket.

10 year Age Groups; 1-14, 15-19, 20-29,30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

RACE DAY REGISTRATION will open at 7:30 pm on June 26th at the Moon Township Library.  The race will begin at 9:00 pm.

What exactly is the Moon Glow Run 5K?

It’s a nighttime 5K with a party vibe. Think glowing gear, neon outfits, music, and entertainment throughout the night. This isn’t just a race—it’s an experience. Come to run, walk, glow, and have a blast.

📝 How do I register?

Registration is quick and easy online through the event website. Head to the registration page, follow the steps, and lock in your spot before it fills up!

👨‍👩‍👧 Is this event family-friendly?

Yes! The Moon Glow Run 5K is open to all ages. Participants under 18 may require parental consent.

🚶 Can I walk instead of run?

Absolutely. Walkers are more than welcome! Enjoy the course at your own pace- just note there is a 60-minute time limit.

⏱️ Will the race be timed?

Yes! Professional race timing is provided by GCXC Racing. You’ll receive a timing chip/bib, and results will be posted

🐾 Can I bring my pet?

For everyone’s safety, pets are not allowed at the Moon Glow Run 5K. Please leave your furry friends at home for the night.

⛈️ What happens if there is inclement weather on race night?

If inclement weather occurs and conditions are deemed unsafe, our first effort- when feasible- will be to delay the start of the race in order to safely hold the event in person. If weather conditions persist or safety concerns remain, the event may be converted to a virtual format.

Packet pick up closes promptly at 9:00 PM, so plan accordingly!

✨ Pro Tip: To keep things smooth and stress-free on race night, we strongly recommend pre-race packet pick up whenever possible. Less waiting, more glowing!

Glow hard, hydrate well, and rest easy- porta-potties will be available on-site during the event.

As per Allegheny County, we are allowed to have 350 participants per wave at this years event.   Additionally, we need to keep everyone spaced out as best we can prior to, during and after the race.   As a result, we will be following the details set forth below.

• The number one priority is runner safety.   RUNNERS MUST MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE AND WEAR A MASK (or Buff) UNTIL CROSSING THE START LINE!
• At 8:45 pm please begin to make your way to the pre-race staging area.
• Start waves will be divided by runners pace.
• In the start cone corral, there will be cones spaced in rows and columns 6 feet apart.  Please stand near an open cone when your group enters.
• The start is at 9:00 pm and the first group will be released.  Runners will start a few at a time  The entire corral will not begin all at once.  Please be patient.
• When the group in front of you moves up a set of cones, please follow.
• The subsequent groups may walk to the start line and upon a signal from the starter may begin their run. 
• Once you are over the start line you may remove your mask.   

Weather & Event Format Policy

In the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions, Moon Parks & Recreation’s first effort, when feasible, will be to delay the race start time in an attempt to safely hold the event in person. If inclement weather persists or conditions remain unsafe, the race may be cancelled and converted to a virtual format to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, staff, and the community.

If this occurs, participants will be notified through the following channels:
•    Email communication sent to all registered participants via RunSignUp
•    Facebook & Instagram posts from the Moon Parks & Rec page
•    Electronic message boards updated with event status information
•    A public notice posted on the Moon Township website (moontwp.us)
•    An automated phone notification sent to Moon Township residents via Moon Police

In that event, participants would have until July 31 to complete the virtual race and submit their results. All registered participants will still receive their race shirt and medal, with distribution details to be communicated at a later date.

Registration fees are non-refundable, and no additional deferrals will be offered. Converting the event to a virtual format allows participants to complete the race safely while still receiving the event experience.

When the sun goes down, the fun turns up. The Moon Glow Run is a high-energy nighttime experience filled with neon lights, glowing gear, music, and nonstop excitement. Whether you’re running, walking, or dancing your way through the course, this event is all about movement, color, and good vibes. Throw on your brightest gear, grab some glow, and get ready for a night that’s anything but ordinary.

Time Limit:
There is a 60-minute course time limit. Participants who have not completed the course within 60 minutes will be safely transported to the finish area via golf cart.
