Become a myTEAM TRIUMPH Angel Athlete - Our mission of creating an inclusive community starts with you.
As a myTEAM TRIUMPH Angel Athlete, you are paired with an athlete with a disability, called a Captain, and commit to guiding them to the finish line. Angels provide encouragement, consistency, and support so that every BODY is celebrated, seen, and included.
Being an Angel is more than participating in a race. It’s about building relationships, showing up for your Captain, and helping create meaningful, life-changing experiences through endurance events across Wisconsin.
Angel Participation Options & Commitment
Angel Athlete
Annual Angels commit to fundraising, volunteering, or paying $200 and may participate in all myTEAM TRIUMPH events throughout the year.
Your annual commitment supports:
Your Captain’s adaptive equipment
Your Captain’s race registration and race day shirt
Your Captain’s weekly training and social opportunities
Your own race registration and race day shirt
Angel Plus (Family Option)
Angel Plus is designed for families who want to support the mission together. Families commit $500 total and may fundraise, volunteer, or make a payment together while enjoying the full myTEAM TRIUMPH experience.
This commitment supports:
Your Captain’s adaptive equipment and race registration
Your Captain’s race day shirt and weekly programming
Race registrations and race day shirts for your family
Single Event Angel
Single Event Angels are those looking to participate in one event only. This option requires $100 through fundraising or payment and offers the opportunity to experience the powerful role of being an Angel for one race.
This commitment supports:
Your Captain’s adaptive equipment
Your Captain’s race registration and race day shirt
Your own race registration and race day shirt
First-Time Angels: Join for Free
Thanks to the Miles for Ann Fund, first-time Angels may participate at no cost.
Created in memory of longtime Angel Ann Seidl, this fund honors her legacy of inclusion, encouragement, and unwavering support. Through this fund, new Angels can experience the joy, connection, and purpose that Ann shared so generously with others.
After your first event, future participation will require a fundraising, volunteer, or payment commitment to support your Captain Athlete.
Fundraising & Participation Policies
To ensure clarity and consistency for all participants, please review the following policies:
All Angels have until December 31, 2026 to meet their fundraising, volunteer, or payment commitment, regardless of when they sign up.
Fundraising does not roll over from previous years. Each year begins with a new commitment to ensure fair and consistent support for Captain Athletes.
For community safety, Angels are required to complete a background check.
If you have completed a myTEAM TRIUMPH background check within the past 3 years, you will not be required to complete one again.
These guidelines allow us to plan effectively, provide adaptive equipment, and create the best possible experience for our Captains and Angels.

What is the fundraising or fee commitment?
Angel Athletes commit to fundraising, volunteering, or paying a fee based on their participation level:
Annual Angel: $200
Angel Plus (Family): $500
Single Event Angel: $100
This commitment directly supports your Captain and their race experience.
When is my fundraising or fee due?
All Angels have until December 31, 2026 to complete their fundraising, volunteer hours, or payment—regardless of when they sign up.
Do fundraising dollars roll over from previous years?
No. Fundraising does not roll over year to year. Each calendar year begins with a new commitment to ensure fair and consistent support for Captain Athletes.
Can I fundraise instead of paying the fee?
Yes. Angels may fundraise, volunteer, pay the fee, or use a combination to meet their commitment.
What does my fundraising support?
Your support helps cover adaptive equipment, race registrations, race day shirts, and weekly training and social opportunities for Captain Athletes, along with your own race participation.
Can I participate in more than one event?
Yes. Annual Angels and Angel Plus families may participate in all myTEAM TRIUMPH events throughout the year. Single Event Angels participate in one event only.
Is there a free option for first-time Angels?
Yes. First-time Angels may participate at no cost thanks to the Miles for Ann Fund, which honors the legacy of longtime Angel Ann Seidl.
Will I need to complete a background check?
Yes, for the safety of our community.
If you have completed a myTEAM TRIUMPH background check within the past 3 years, you will not be required to complete another one.
New Angels or those outside the 3-year window will be prompted to complete one.
Do Captains have to pay to participate?
No. There is no cost to be a Captain. While fundraising is encouraged, Captains participate free of charge and are supported by Angel Athletes.
What if I fall in love with being an Angel?
We hope you do! After your first free event (if applicable), future participation will require a fundraising, volunteer, or payment commitment to continue supporting your Captain.
What does the Angel process entail?
- Filling out the application
- Completing a Background Check (if not done in past 3 years)
- Wait 1 to 4 Days
- Receive a Confirmation Email
- Registering for Events
- Fulfill minimum fundraising requirements by end of 2026 year
Can I run with my friend, family member or specific Captain?
YES! When you register for your event please put down the name of anyone you would like to be on a team with. We do our best to honor everyone's wishes!
Do I need to be a fast or experienced runner to be an Angel?
NOPE! Every level is welcome on the team! It is more about inclusion than it is about breaking a personal record.
What if I can't fundraise or pay?
We know that money can be an issue and do not want to put you in a financial downfall. Contact us for fundraising ideas that do not take a lot of time or effort. If you cannot support your Captain through fundraising, we ask that you volunteer your time to supplement the money. Sign-up for any of our volunteering spots such as: Door County Kids Triathlon, Bowling Fundraiser, Operation Guardian Angel Memorial Day Run, Fall50, etc.
What can I expect on Race Day?
- Look out for Pre Race Emails with details on parking, teams, and times
- Arrive on time near myTEAM TRIUMPH hub
- Receive your packet materials from a volunteer
- Mingle, Meet your team, and take pictures
- Head to start - we usually start first
- No Angel is left behind - you start and finish with your team
