Race History
The Plucked Turkey 10K was started by former Anniston Runners Club president Dennis Dunn, who began holding a group run in the Golden Springs area on Thanksgiving morning 2007. The next year, it was held as an official race for the first time, marking the inaugural Plucked Turkey 10K in 2008. The Plucked Turkey 10K has become a tradition for runners in the Anniston, AL, and Calhoun County areas, starting their Thanksgiving off right with a 6.2 mile run. The highest number of active participants for the Plucked Turkey 10K was in 2025, when 266 people crossed the finish line. The Anniston Runners Club continues to host the Plucked Turkey 10K each year, with the support of its sponsors.
